Charleston

Hey ladies, I am in charleston at a beautiful cg in a county park. A little pricey for a public park but it does have lots of amenities including full hook ups, huge dog park with beach access where they can run and play off leash and even a separate yard for smaller dogs, boat(kayak, canoe or pedal) and bike rentals, and the deciding factor for me a shuttle downtown for $10 round trip. Those of you who have been here tell me what I should see/tour - only have one day. My thoughts are: take bus/trolley tour to hear the narration and see where else to go, Ft Sumter, and possibly Patriot Park. Don't know if Patriot is something I can do on my way OUT of town (I am heading north) but if none of you know, I bet someone at te visitor center will. Feel free to chime in if you've ever been here.

I didn't have enough time in Charleston when there - so didn't get to Ft Sumter and looking back, that would have been my #1 place, I think. The town is ok - but I liked Savannah better. That's just me. Can't tell you what to choose, as I didn't get to see everything either. But enjoy what you do see :)

May I ask which cg you stayed at? My aunt lives in Mt Pleasant & I'd like to find a good place to camp near her. Hope you had a nice time there. I always enjoy walking through the battery & rainbow row. The best place for seafood IMO is Hymen's downtown.

It is called James Island and is owned by the county. You can find reviews on rvparkreviews.com or google it by name. I would recommend it

While in Charleston, go see the rebel sub, the Hunely. http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1P2-19701443.html It is truly an awesome experience.

For a southern eating experience be sure to go to http://www.hymanseafood.com/ and to http://www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Overview.aspx?RefID=346 both of these restaurants are great.

Also visit the old slave market and the only surviving Hugenot church there . Also be sure to go down and walk the battery, the old houses there are wonderful.

Can you tell I have been to Charleston a lot? It is a great city with wonderful history.
