Feeling crappy

Postby Echo » Mon Aug 18, 2008 4:33 pm

Idon't think it was bike ride that did me in. I think it was the 4x4 off rode adventure I went on with the kids last eve. I really felt pretty good after the bike ride. Tho my butt was sore and I felt sleepy. The butt I know was protesting the close to 5hrs on the seat. :D And the sleepiness I attributed to the fresh air. It was a beautiful ride thru parts of the Cherokee Nat Forest. I mean that thing seems to goes on forever! I have no idea how many acres it covers in all. Guess I will have to look it up. But we had a good time. Got home about 3:30.

Son David, is working at Olive Garden. He got off at 4pm, scooped up dinner he bought cause he get 50% off while working and brought it all home. We all ate and headed out the door, climbed into his K5 Blazer and headed for the mountain. We were to meet a couple of David's friends with wife and girlfriend at the gas station and all go. OMG what a ride! I don't know how long that road is up over the mountain? If they straightened it and took out the bumps?? Maybe 10mls?? Oh but good god gerturde!! Up and down hills and rocks. Over boulders. Sliding sideways up and down the banks and hillsides. Thru creeks and over more boulders. Oh my aching bones. And of course all that bouncing up and down getting tossed side to side and the "air time" I was getting from the bumps did not help my butt cheeks. (poor old things) This is the very first time Kelly has ever really went 4 wheeling like this! :o At one point on the trail over the mountain and thru the woods we acquired a hitch hiker of all things!!! He climbed in with Davids buddies crew in the Land Cruiser. I'm not sure if he had been up there with another 'crew' in a Nissan Pathfinder. I'm not sure of the whole story? Nor how, why or what he was doing at WalMart the same time we were getting gas. But he flagged us down and asked for a ride up toward the top where his buddy had rolled his Nissan. If they (the crew) had called him for help?? They would have been sorely disappointed in him as he by himself would not have been any help. The only thing he had with him was a dang 6 pack of beer! (idiots should not be allowed to breed) On up the trail we went. Found the driver of the Nissan walking out with his dog to see about some help. Loaded him in the Blazer. Up the trail some more. Found more people walking out! This time 1 guy and 2 girls. They packed into the buddies Land Cruiser. Is it beginning to sound populated and crowded? sheesh. Onward we went. Finally found where he had rolled his Nissan. Had the whole dang trail blocked. What the heck he had been doing I have no idea but it's a dang good thing he was the only one in it when it rolled. They had taken off the removable roof. 3 of the people and the dog had been sitting in the back before the driver rolled it. At least they had enough brain cells to get out before he tried to go over the huge boulder on the side of the trail. Any was David, his buddy and the buddies brother went to work trying to get the Nissan upright and all 4 wheels. While Kelly, I and David's GF sat in David's Blazer down the trail broke down cause it wouldn't start, this was at 8:30pm. Can you say not thrilled??? They did manage to get the Nissan upright, had to drain the oil out of the cylinders, clean off and dry the plugs, siphon gas out of the Cruiser and into the Nissan. Tah Dah!!! It started and with some help got the rest of the way up the nasty rock/sm boulder studded trail. Then David with both crews following came down discovered that all the bouncing around had slid David's battery back enough that some wire had grounded out and fried itself. They replaced the wire and it fired up after some major gas pedal pumping to get gas back into the carb. One good thing? What ever was up there where the dummy rolled his Nissan convinced David to go around the other way. But to tell you the truth?? I'm not sure the other way was any smoother at all. The guy that they helped out took all of us to the gas station and put $50 of gas in each vehicle. So David had a full tank and his buddy had almost a full tank of gas. Cost the kid $100 in all but that is way cheaper than a couple of other alternatives. They had taken the license plate off and were gonna leave it lay!!! Guess the dummy didn't stop to think about anyone else getting screwed up by leaving it laying in the middle of the trail almost on it's roof. There are a couple of vehicles laying up on that mountain rusting away. But at least they weren't left in the middle of the trail. And some of the guys are working on getting them cut up and hauled out of there too.

In the end? I did enjoy the 4x4 adventure, got home it was close to 11pm. Got a few things around and my tired OLD butt went to bed. Alarm went off this morning??? I got up took Shade out to P and said the he11 with it. I called out sick. But yep, I do think the 4x4 trip did me in. Gads was I sore and exhausted by time I crawled into my nice SOFT comfy bed.

Kelly's not home yet from work. I think she might have had to do an hours worth of overtime. And she was gonna stop for gas and a couple things at the grocery store. But she'll be home soon. I think I will make her help get supper cooking. ;)

Oh, that's an adventure I can do without LOL - but it sounds like you actually might have enjoyed parts of it.

Several years back, I was taken 4 wheeling up the side of a volcanic mountain - to it's top. Now, the top, I must admit, I saw the most beautiful sunset ever. But I had to go down with my eyes closed, as I'm still not sure how we made it up or down - was scary, scary - and when you start either direction you pray no one comes the other way, as there is no way to stop once you start - no place to turn around, and no way to back up. (Was it a good thing they didn't tell me all this ahead of time? You bet!)

I know you hadn't been feeling your best the other day, Echo, so you deserved this day off work today- and you deserved your fun yesterday.

oh my goodness, what an adventure, and your poor butt and muscles, and to not
be feeling well to even begin with, girl you better get lots of rest, so glad you took
the day off, you deserve it, and hope you feel better soon.
I did go 4 wheeling a couple times, once with an idiot that scared the hell out of
me and a few times with my ex and we had a great time keeping all 4 wheels
slowly where they should be. That I enjoyed, but the first time with the idiot
was a nightmare.

What a DAY! My son & friends are 4x4'ers and they took me on one of those bumpy sphincter-clenching trips. Having to come down IN THE DARK however would have scared me spitless.

You have WAAAY more energy than I have. You couldn't have pried me out of a chair after the bike ride.

The way some of those guys four-wheel, it really is natural selection at work. Not MY son, of course!! ;)
