I had never been through a border patrol checkpoint until this November. I was coming out of Big Bend Natl Park. I knew there was a checkpoint so I was really prepared. I even had my passport out just in case. The young man I talked to was very nice. His big thing was me traveling alone across the desert. I didn't think at the time but I should have said "if you leave California, you have to cross the desert unless you're going north". Anyway it was a good experience, didn't even ask to see my drivers license.
