As far as I'm concerned, it 's just a bird wading in NON-FROZEN water. Wish I was there ...

It's not just any spoonbill - it's the Roseate Spoonbill. I LOVE them as they have already stated :) Have pics of them in my rig. They don't get to much of the US, but they are in the Port Aransas area and south. Actually, the furthest north I know of them wondering has been up by Port Lavaca, where the idiot with a little rv park there calls them flamingos. Duh.

Glad you saw some - aren't they neat?

Thank you - I knew someone would know. He was the only one there with a bunch of herons and white garzas (cranes I think)
Also saw another strange one but didn't get a picture. He was sitting on the beach. Quite a bit bigger than a seagull, smaller than a pelican. Black back, white breast, long skinny gray bill, blue webbed feet and waddled like a penguin when he walked. But as I tried to get a picture he flew away and hasn't been back.

Perhaps a blue-footed booby?.

Thank you - that is sure what it looked like - wow what a day a Blue Footed Booby and a Rosetta Spoonbill - maybe I'll have to take up a new hobby
wish he would come back so I could get a picture.
Thanks again
