We went to Frys Electronics again, found out about a USB cable that you can connect to two computers and transfer data back and forth. Good to have and I know we couldn’t find it at home. Coming back from Frys – it was 105 out according to the Jeeps Temp guage
and we passed a group playing GOLF – what part of 105 didn’t they understand? Gads!
Then got a really good picture of the Luxor and New York New York. Where else can you go from Egypt
to New York just by crossing a street?
What a city. And the other entertainment like the rides. This is just crazy. See the little pencil like thing hanging over the edge? It’s a ride that tips out over the building and when it tips the car slams down the slope and jerks to a halt. All 1,149 feet above The Strip. No Thanks.
And then there is Red Rock Canyon. This picture was taken just as we passed the last houses built at the Western city limits.
Hard to believe there is a huge city just behind us. Entering the Red Rock Canyon Park. Again we got to use our Golden Age Passport….Get one if you can.
Some information on why the rocks are red.
It is surprising how much and how many different kinds of vegetation grow in these rocks.
My favorite is the Joshua Tree – they are so interesting.
There was a big fire here a few years ago and it killed most of the Joshua Trees in this area. They look so forlorn all bent over and black.
Here you can see the different colors of the layers of the rocks.
There are hiking trails all over here – if you want to hike in triple digit temperatures.
There are herds of wild burros and horses here but we didn’t see any. The only time I’ve ever seen them I didn’t have my camera with me. Figures.
Once out of the canyon we drove down towards the I-15 on Blue Diamond Road. Boy has it changed. Housing development after housing development. But who would want to live like this?
They are only about five feet apart. If you sneeze your neighbor says Bless You. And no back yards at all. Almost like living in a condo. Except that the walls don’t quite touch.
Then we went to the big Bass Pro Shop – what a place. Again if you haven’t been to one go when you see one. Worth the trip. Except you might want to leave the man of the family in the car. I love these mail boxes.
We did manage to get out of there without spending anything. This one is attached to the Silverton Hotel which in itself is interesting. While there we saw a Mermaid. Yes really.
They have a huge fish tank and girls dressed as Mermaids go in there and play with the fish and entertain the kids in the audience.
So see there is more to Vegas then sin.
