Stopped in Intercourse - I kid you not. Named that because at one time it was a main crossing of roadways - or it is a take on Enter Course because it was the begining of a horse race.
Loved all the quilts and fabric - but didn't buy any. Watched one Amish lady making a quilt using a treadle sewing machine. Most of the quilts we saw were put together by machine and then hand quilted.

Saw these flowers and asked what they were. We were told that the locals call them Moon Flowers because as dusk comes the blossoms open up and raise up to face the sky.
Saw lots of Amish buggies. They have several different kinds. Courting Buggies only have one seat and it is not covered. Family buggies are covered and bigger. See a lot of women driving them. Market Buggies have either an open bed or a hatch type opening in the back.
The Amish do not use bicycles - this is really a scooter - see the low part in the middle for the foot
Drove through the countryside on the way home. Very big houses with laundry fluttering on the line. The Amish cannot have anything that connects them to the "outside." That is why, no gas line - but can have propane in tanks, no electricity, no plumbing but can use windmills or diesel pumps to pump water to roof for running water, no telephone in house but telephones booths are available on the roads.
When we got back to campground we had RAIN
Wish I'd bought some of the pickles and salsa I tasted at the Canning Co. Maybe I can convince The Driver to go back there before we leave.
