covering under trailer?

This is the underneath side of my trailer. I was looking under there the other day and saw that the whole bottom of the trailer has this covering on it from front to back. Is that some sort of insulation? I haven't seen that on my other trailers. (I resized this to be able to post it)

It looks to me like it was added on maybe original flooring was damaged or could be for additional insulation.

It looks like additional insulation to me, which would be a good thing.

And yay to you figuring out resizing and then it would post. Good job!

Hi Barbie,
That is called Coroplast. All it does is cover the underside of your trailer but does not add any insulation value and is really just plastic corrugated cardboard. I think in the description of trailers it is listed as "enclosed underbelly". I had it on my last trailer but still nearly froze to death when I lived in it during the winter (I didn't have any insulation in the floor since it wasn't a 4-season trailer). It does protect everything under the trailer (plumbing, electrical, etc) from road debris while you're traveling and help keep rodents out. Just make sure any openings through it are sealed well.

I wouldn't mess with it but if you do need any work done under the trailer, it will need to be removed although some technicians can just cut a hole to make the repair and then patch it. I don't think it is expensive to replace if something happens to it.
