Some Mardi Gras pics from last night

Just a few. I'm terrible at taking selfies, but attempted a selfie of Martha and I in front of I've of the floats. 3 attempts and this bag one was the best lol

The police did an awesome job riding through, doing figure 8's, etc to clear people out of the road

The parade started with many of the Krewes represented thus:

I can't even guess how many Krewes and floats there were but here's a small sampling:

And, a selfie of me with some of the beads I was catching

A fun time and I'm glad I came and very glad Martha came. I'd change around some of the activities, but nothing to do about the rain and then couple days of very cold. Well, find inside things those cold days! And again today, I'm so glad I give myself extra time because the wind is horrendous so I'm staying until tomorrow. It appears several others are also, but most have left.

A Krewe is like a club or organization that puts on Mardi Gras events. The ball we went to was put on by a Krewe. I guess they have a float, I didn't look. Some of the Krewes in New Orleans are very expensive to belong to. Kind of like belonging to a country club.

Great bunch of pictures Beth. Thanks for that explanation Martha, because I was wondering the same thing. That’s one thing I like about this group, we get to learn about different things that go on in different parts of the country that are unique to their areas.

Right on, Sue!

I really enjoy this about our group as well!

Lots of nice posts this morning, everyone. Tina, your post was especially moving. I feel much the same as you do about dogs. Dogs have always been the one constant in my life - I don't what I would have done without them.
