A July’s outing

Postby Colliemom » Wed Jul 13, 2022 7:12 pm

Decided it was time for a change of scenery yesterday, so I took the dogs and we went up to Mackinaw city to rock along the streets in our favorite park by the Mackinac Bridge. Surprisingly there were very few people there. But this area is a major tourist destinations and the business district of the Village of Mackinaw City is full of tourist shops. Needless to say I think everybody was shopping because if you were lucking for a place to park, good luck. And many others were probably on Mackinac island I am sure.

So we got to enjoy the park with very few people but enough people that the dogs were getting all kinds of attention. Here’s a few pictures of our day up there.

The Mackinac Bridge or “Might Mac” as it’s affectionally called here in Michigan.

Mackinac Island. The long white structure in the middle part of the picture is the Grand Hotel. The scene of the filming of the movie “Somewhere in Time”.

Some of the park by/the bridge, part of the Mackinac Historic State Parks. The Old Mackinac Point lighthouse is in the background .

One of the Ferries that takes passengers to Mackinac Island and it’s way over to the bridge. They take passengers under the bridge and back on the way over to the island and people love to go under that bridge

And last but not least, no trip up here is a success, unless Piper and Molly go wading in the straits.

That's one of my favorite spots in Mackinaw City, as well! Always a pleasant breeze and a gorgeous view, plus I always stop at the gift shop and see what is new.

This spring and early summer was busy with doctor's appointments and going to the UK, but I am going to try to spend more time up in that area next spring or fall.

What a fun day you girls had! Why does the bridge (first photo) look like it just goes down into the lake?
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Thanks Sue, I too love that area. Pictures brought back fond memories. Hot dogs and loons.
