Good morning, everyone.

Summer marches on in northern California. . . the predicted low temps have not yet arrived. Over the last several days temps have remained in the upper 80's/low 90's. The predicted high of 75 for today (Sunday) from several days ago has now become a predicted high of 80.

If past experience proves correct (the weather station that my local predictions comes from is many miles south of me) the high will likely be several degrees higher here at my house than the prediction - I'm guessing maybe 84 or 85.

Still and all, that is a lot better than the 107 of a week or so ago, so I'll take it ( as though I had a choice).

I can't tell if the predicted "50% chance of rain" happened overnight or not. Maybe it did - the sidewalk outside my front door was kinda damp, but the bare dirt beside the sidewalk was still cracked (the dirt, that is) and still bone-dry.

"Fire Weather Watch" from the National Weather Service states it will be in effect from September 19, 11:00 PM PDT (today, Sunday) until September 21, 11:00 AM PDT (Tuesday). This "Fire Weather Watch" might also be downgraded to turn into a "Red Flag Warning".

With no further rain in the immediate forecast (that is, if we actually got any rain from this passing system in the first place), and temps again climbing into the low-to-mid 90's into the rest of this week (and likely above that at my house) the heat, drought, and extreme fire danger here in northern California continues.

Sue, your weather there sounds delectable. From your wonderful descriptions, I can almost smell the cold moisture in the air. Thank you. Wish I were there.

cold enough the pellet stove got turned on unfortunately it's in the other room we are in the living room with the dining room separating the two rooms I don't think it will ever get warm in here I may have to resort to socks!!!! oh and it RAINED!!!

The weather is insane. We could have a hard freeze tomorrow night then highs in the mid to upper 70's later in the day. Funny, the freeze would be the time I'd like to be getting going Tuesday, my first morning with company to go sightseeing with me but I predict we'll get a late start Tuesday lol

Was 104* when I took the Jeep to the laundry room today at noon. Luckily, the humidity has been low so it is tolerable out there. Lows just below 80* at around 4am. Not cool enough to open the windows at night. Has been windy during the day but no wind at all overnight. Won't be fun tomorrow if it is windy again as they are scalping the lawn here and the grass and dust will be blowing all over! Will stay inside until I leave for work. Next weekend is supposed to stay just below 100*. As long as the humidity doesn't go up much, I am OK with being around 100.

As mentioned above, the predicted high for yesterday, Sunday (according to the National Weather Service) was supposed to be a delightful 75.

Beth, I think you remarked on how nice this cool-down would be. I was for sure really looking forward to it.

As can be seen from my above post, I thought this 75 prediction might morph into 84 or 85. Turns out that both the NWS and I were wrong. The temps here topped out at a toasty 93. An 18-degree increase over the initial forecast. But who's counting?

I also got right the part about the "Fire Weather Watch" turning into a "Red Flag Warning". Red Flag Warning in effect now today until 8:00 p.m. Predicted high today (Monday) is 92 (probably 95 or 96 here at my house), with mid-to-upper 90's for the rest of the week.

Barbie, how do you abide with all of the extremely hot weather that you have there? I am about at my wit's end dealing with the heat here, where you are is much worse.

When it is really hot, I just remember when I was in MN with below zero temps and realize I would rather deal with the heat than that horrible bitter cold! Then it doesn't feel so bad... (kind of reminds me of a song...)

It is currently 82 degrees in central FL with 84% humidity. We've had lots of cloudy skies with showers just about everyday. Rain is expected this afternoon into tonight. We've had 6.94 inches of rain this month. When the sun peeks out, we are thrilled. Anne, I wish I could send you some of our rain.

And here I am having had to unhook my water tonight because we have a chance for a hard freeze overnight! But the cool down predicted for daytime temperatures isn't happening. But let me tell you, I wasn't prepared for these nighttime lows that snuck up on me. Because they are called the nighttime lows but happen at 7/8 am. Brrr walking Ty lol

Actually, to me, that sounds kind of nice.

Yesterday topped out at 98 degrees, dropped to about 70 last night. As of 10:00 a.m. this morning, it is already 80.

The National Weather Service is predicting mid-90's for my area here for the rest of the week; experience tells me that at my house I can usually add another 3 or 4 degrees on top of that.

So I'm guessing it will be hovering around 100 degrees for the rest of the week here at my house.

Karen, your living arrangement there in Oregon is sounding more and more attractive. Both weather-wise and domicile-wise. Although I love my vegetable garden, maintaining my large lot is becoming less and less of something I want to spend time - and energy -on. I'm hoping an apartment or condo is not in my future (not casting aspersions on apartment or condo living at all) but maybe a nice mobile/manufactured home might be a good thing.

Who knows.

it warmed up today don't know what the high was but it was nice... so nice that when we first got up it was hot think mom had turned up the heat sometime cause I saw her turn it down...
