Medical Alert Systems

I am reaching the age that I worry a little about falling and needing help, so I have been considering getting a fall alert device of some sort, but I really know nothing about them.

I think I would prefer something I can slip in my pocket or hang around my neck. I don't like wearing a watch on my wrist. The other thing is that it needs to work on a cell system or even GPS satellite. Obviously, I don't have a land line.

Does anyone have any experience with these used while traveling like I do? Most assume you are in one place. I found a couple of buyer's guides, but I don't know how good they are. And are there other things I need to know about before I buy one?????

it's too bad that you would prefer not a watch style as there is one that is set up with cell phones... really know nothing about it other than my brother had looked into it for my mom but my sister got her a flip phone for Christmas and it needs a smart phone.... why she got her a flip phone I don't know but it is what is

The Apple watch, which pairs to Apple iPhone, will detect a fall, ask if you are ok, and if you don't respond in a set time, it calls your list of emergency contacts. Saw a news story about a Dad and son, who were driving from separate locations to meet to bike ride. The Dad got there first, was riding around getting ready, when he had a tumble off the bike. The watch detected the fall, called for help, routed help to his exactl location on the trail, and rerouted the son to the hospital where he found his Dad already getting his arm amd bumped head fixed up. Paramedics even brought the Dads bike with them!
I know you don't like wrist watch, but it's pretty great technology. I think Mitch has one but not sure I she checks in here anymore. Within the next two years I'm getting one.
Then there are Satellite devices you carry that you have to be conscious to hit the button and it brings help. Several people , such as Robin on CreativityRV have reviewed them. I think they all require subscription, but so does a watch with its cell connection.
