The first "open" day here was a bit strange. I live a few blocks from "downtown", from my backyard, I could hear celebratory whooping and hollering, cars near and far revving their engines and honking, distant explosions (my county loves to set off fireworks, all year round).
I did a brief - very brief - drive around my part of town with my car windows rolled up and mask on my face. There seemed to be people everywhere walking around together in small groups - not a mask in sight, no 'social distancing' to be seen.
The local mall was mobbed, judging from photos and videos I have seen online (I did not go there) only about 50% of people were wearing masks.
Traffic in my area is pretty much bumper-to-bumper on the main streets - which leads me to the concern that people from surrounding counties (that are still closed) are coming here to the open businesses and to the mall. Why? Because they can. My county is about 35 - 45 miles from a major population center.
This pretty much freaks me out. I was scheduled for a grocery delivery tomorrow, but am now thinking I might cancel it in view of all of the above.
On the other hand, if I wait, and the influx of people from elsewhere causes a spike in the virus here, I might then be worse off. I need to get groceries sometime.
I know that there are brave souls here on the Forum that are braving going to the grocery store. I struggle with this. I have had severe pneumonia twice in my life - the second instance nearly did me in. Although this was years ago, this is an experience that I have never forgotten, and one I do not wish to repeat.
What to do?
