After our house flooded I bought a computer with Windows XP on it which I liked a lot. When I decided to get a laptop to travel with it had Vista which everyone seemed to hate. My desk top crashed about a year ago and my son talked me into getting a Mac. Since I don't really do much but read forums, blogs and send emails it is ok. It takes a minute when I start using the laptop to remember that everything that is on the left with the Mac is on the right. I can't handle photos on the Mac as well as I could with Windows. But I wasn't that good with them on Windows either. It aggravates me that nothing comes with a manual anymore. I guess I could look for one of those books for dummies.

My old Mac died about a year ago, new ones are too pricy for as few of the features as I use, so this time I opted for a chromebook. Since I only use a computer for the internet it works just fine, and for $250 you can't beat the price.

Here is a paragraph from a blog Kevin wrote [Travels with Kevin and Ruth] about Windows 10 It might not be a good idea if you have limited Internet

"And I tried the "Internet for RV'ers" forum. But these people are all techies who use 40 or 50 GB per month and have unlimited plans. Not sure what I was expecting to learn there, but they did have one interesting discussion about Windows 10 and the fact that the automatic download will use up 4 GBs of data. And that when you do get Windows 10, you are not able to turn off automatic updating. No, there will be no windows 10 for us."

I Googled it and you can turn off automatic updates with Windows 10. I only download and do updates when I log on with free wifi. Same on my phone where it's set to only update when using wifi.

I love the new Windows 10. Here are a couple of very good posts about changes you may want to make to Windows 10. You can turn off the automatic updates so you can install when you have more bandwidth.
