Crash dump?

What is a "crash dump"? I have heard it referred to also as the blue screen of death. It keeps happening mostly when I am on Facebook and trying to download a video on there.
Is it serious? How do I keep it from happening? I posted this question on FB but got no responses, so am hoping someone here can help.

The blue screen of death contains the code that is causing the problem. Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Screen_of_Death has an explanation. Might need someone to take a peak at your computer. It may be happening while you are in FB, but not be a FB problem.

If you Google 'crash dump', there are several sites including a video for fixing it.
