Sorry about posting and dropping off the face of the earth.

Thanks everyone for such great advice! Okay, give me the scoop on trailer village. Is it a NP campground? Does it have room for bigger rigs? There is a private campground about 7 miles or so from the park. It's called Grand Canyon Camper Village. Anyone stayed there?

Yes, the trailer village can easily handle big rigs. It is a great place and has full hookups. Don't expect things Like swimming pools, but the location right next to a shuttle stop cannot be beat. It is owned by the national park service but managed by an outside company so no senior discount. My rig is 32 feet and it easily fit into one of the smaller spots. Lots of much bigger rigs there. (I was having knee problems and asked for a spot close to shuttle so they put me almost next to it)

I would not consider staying anywhere else and plan to stay there in November again. I loved the elk wandering through the campground. And Grand Canyon water is fantastic spring water.

I guess I don't understand why you are afraid to stay inside the park. Have you heard negative things? It really is very nice. If you stay outside the park you will have to drive in and park.
