As far as costs. Liz did a trip to Washington State some years ago. She posted a very good daily list of her cost with an RV. I took those numbers and translated them into what it would costs you forthe same trip with a car staying in a motel. The costs were double what she spent. Plus she had her own bed every night.
As far as safety issues, a guy I met once told me he entered a motel after a long day's drive, climbed in the bed and woke up in ICU. Someone was hiding in the room and almost beat him to death with the back fo the toilet. As anywhere when in your RV practice safety measures. But I feel you are safer in your RV than motels, check out how many people are approached when entering their rooms and are robbed or seriously injured.
My son is extremely supportive in what I do, I have pros and cons from the rest of my very large family. But most simply are tied to sticks and bricks and can't imagine any other way of living. I enjoy what I do, I enjoy the freedom, I enjoy the people I meet and if I get lonely, step out your door and there are usually people to talk to, meet and enjoy their company, that part is up to you.
In a sticks and bricks home you have daily repairs, upkeep, insurance and many still have house payments and the lists goes on and on. I can clean my motorhome in 30 minutes or less. I don't mow the grass, clean the pool or worry about flower gardens. I now just enjoy those items around me.
Find what you want and go enjoy the life you select, it isn't up to anyone else to choose how you live your life, stay away from the negative and stick with the positive.
