You'll know what's right to do and when the time comes you'll just know. I had to retire my buddy Gus 2 years ago as he was getting past 10 and some problems with his back made it too hard for him to climb in and out of the rv. Luckily he was able to live with my good friend Brenda for the rest of his life. This visit to Nashville I could tell it was time to let him go. He had too many things going wrong and qualify was way down. Brenda had already taken him to the vet and was just waiting for me to make the decision. It was so hard to say good bye again but he was finally at peace. My neighbor next door to the house I sold where Gus grew up invited me to bury him in her rose garden where he used to chase rabbits. It was a very emotional day. We get so attached to our fur babies.

Oh, Anne, I'm so sorry! It's Monday afternoon here now, so I'm hoping Rod is having a better time today. (You, too, of course.) Will you see his regular vet this afternoon?

NOT a whine!!! Dogs are family. That's that. The William will be 16 this spring, and he's getting a little frail. Not a happy thing to see.

Anyone who's ever loved an animal has gone through this...unfortunately, it doesn't really help much to know that when it's your turn to have to let go. Just know that we're here and that our prayers and hearts go out to you and your sweet boy.
Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.

Anne, I'm so sorry about Rod. Others have said everything I would say, so I'll just send hugs and prayers.
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.
