Downsizing Again

Postby Wanderer2 » Mon Dec 15, 2014 6:52 pm

So my winter project is downsizing all of this stuff. Gathering boxes for the grand yard sale in the Spring. Yes it will take me that long. We bought this house and moved from 1400 sq. ft. into 780 sq ft. I like my little house but I do have storage sheds on the property because I didn't know exactly what to get rid of then. So some of it is still there!
It should be easy, since I haven't used some of it in a while, you would think anyway. I tried this before and my husband and I both said "Oh we shouldn't get rid of that because....you know!
So... feeling overwhelmed but figure one room, one shed and yes I will still store some stuff in case I decide to settle somewhere. Unsettling that word settle. HAH! I need my adventure and I know it, but think that it will also help me find that place that I want to be when I get too young (I don't say the "O" word). I just know that it is not here.
So -if you all have any magic words of wisdom, let me know.
Narrowing down the list of RVs and plan to attend some RV shows this winter. Oh what fun! Methodical, that me but think that it will be worth it in the long run.

Keep dreaming. Keep planning. Keep researching. Keep breathing... Sleep when necessary. Play when ever possible. Keep moving forward. Fast or slow you will get there. I usually feel much lighter after the stuff and things get sorted and are released from my world......

Thanks Birdie-I have already given some stuff away and donated others. It certainly is a work in progress. Yesterday was play day, as it warmed up a little and the sun was out. Yippee! I went to Johnson City, TN and wandered around. That is about an hour from here and it was a good day for a ride. So, back to work here. My lab is my supervisor and she does know that something is up. I will get there. At least I have a plan now.

Good luck on getting that task done. I need some inspiration to do the same - your success just might help.

Always a hard and tiring job to downsize. Just a suggestion:

In this area there are Estate Sale people who can handle everything. It doesn't have to actually be an estate from a death. This is how it works: You look over everything and take out what you want to keep - put in storage or whatever. You choose and remove those items you want family, friends to have. Then the estate folks come in and take over. They organize the sale. They run the sale. They dispose (donate, toss) everything that is left. They take a percent of the profit and turn the rest over to you. When I say they take care of everything, I mean everything. I have seen things like half bottles of shampoo, cleansers, jars of nails, wax paper, you name it, you don't have to deal with it. And best of all is you don't have all the work or stress.

Perhaps there are folks in your area who do this.
