Where's Liz? Grand Canyon, South Rim, Part 3

Postby Liz » Mon May 05, 2014 10:48 am

This day was spent on Desert View Drive, a 25-mile scenic route along the rim to the East entrance. It also includes a stop at the Tusayan (Ancient Pueblo) Ruin and museum.

The whole canyon is the GRAND VIEW!! It's so beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I've been to the Grand Canyon 4 times and could go another 4 or more. Sounds like you are enjoying all the vistas.

That's my favorite stretch of the Grand Canyon.

I love looking at your pictures of the Grand Canyon. I have not been there in close to 20 years. Sure want to go back.

:D fabulous, I'm always awestruck by the enormousness of it and I know if I went there I wouldn't want to leave until I saw every little
vista I could.

Have only been to the Grand Canyon only once ...and truly didn't realize how much there was to see
kinda like the tourist that drive through Yellowstone in one day on one road and then say we saw Yellowstone!!!
I would love to return one day....to see what is there and not seen!!! thanks for opening my eyes Liz

For those of you who remember Sparkle, I was chuckling tonight looking at Liz's blog again. She wasn't a big fan of the Grand Canyon even though she worked near the north rim three years, twice did trips into the canyon on mules and I "forced" her to do this section of the south rim. She still would say, " It's just a #$&# hole in the ground."

There is a quote in the book "Gone Girl" that refers to how much of our world has been photographed and videoed and spread out there in the media that very few things we see are really novel anymore. We have seen so much imbedded in other parts of our lives. When I visited the canyon I appreciated its size but also thought.....yes that looks like all those pictures and movies..... even the coyote resting under the tree next to the parking lot..... :)
