Funeral for battery

Hubby went out yesterday to take the LT Sprinter to get smog check and it would not start. Has solar to keep battery up so he kept checking. Seems 9, yes Nine years is a long time for a battery so finally having to look for replacement. Silly man still out there trying to add distilled water to the clearly marked no maintenance type battery, but I say 9 years is a long time lets tell it goodbye and turn it in for a new one. Battery was made by a company I had not heard of, Douglas manufacturing. They are still making batteries if we can find one here. I give a big thumbs up to a vehicle battery that lasts 9 years! I guess the right expensive battery can be a good investment! Definately going to buy another maintenance free type.

Yes, 9 years is a long time. http://www.douglasbattery.com/ still around but more industrial application oriented. We have them in the forklifts at work.

In 2010 I had my rv in for an oil change, etc. The dealer asked if I'd ever had trouble starting it. I said never. Started first time every time. Well, my rig was a 1999, and the battery was original. We decided it was time to change it even if I hadn't been having trouble. Yep, I think you've done good on 9 years. And I never would have thought my battery in there would have been original. I went through several house batteries - but, of course, I was draining them too much.
