That whole area there, Payson, the Mogollon Rim, Show Low, is famous for its UFO and Bigfoot activity. Check that out while you're in the area. There are some very unusual, unexplained events that happen there. It's really fascinating if you start looking into it. This is definitely one area in Arizona that I am planning to visit. Thanks for the post!

For those planning to go to that area, Dead Horse Ranch State Park is just down the road in Cottonwood. It is one of my favorite campgrounds because of the view, especially from the south end of the upper campground.

Wow, does this ever bring back fond memories! I spent time at these sites when I was in jr high and high school. I was lucky to have a neighbor who worked at the museum in Flagstaff and got to go on some of the digs with his group. I remember one that was a small cavelike dwelling and we saw lots of pottery shards and such. Apparently it had just recently been discovered and we were some of the first to be in it. Wish I could remember just were it was. I just remember opening and closing lots of gates, dusty roads and quite a hike up! For sure not something I could do now!!! Thanks for the memories, Liz.
