Does anyone belong to Escapees? I'm interested in their mail service and wondering how dependable it is.

I'm an SKP but have never needed to use the service. However, many, many members use it so it is probably pretty good.

By the way: You could go to the Escapee forum and ask about it. Sure you would get a Yay or Nay.

Hi Judi, I belonged to Escapees for about 15 years. It is a very good organization. I used their mail service and never had any problems. The Post Office in Livingston gave them their own zip code because of all the mail coming into Livingston. Lyn

After going to their website and looking at other mail options, I think I will join Escapees and use their mail service for my year-long trip. It sounds like exactly what I need. There is so much to think about to get ready for a long trip!

Sounds like a plan, Judi! I used Alternative Resources in South Dakota when I full timed from 2007 to 2009, but that was because they also titled and licensed my vehicles for me as I took residency in South Dakota for the purposes of full timing. I am sure Escapees does mail just as well as any other RV full-time mailing service. How it worked for me is that I would call Alternative Resources when I was settled into a place, and they would forward the mail. Sadly, I found out in one town that the Post Office would not forward mail (if I had moved on) because full-time RVers were considered "transient." Argh... I did not like that term or the connotation.

In my case though, I wasn't fast moving, we stayed in one park for summer and traveled across country to the south during the winter. Made it easy to get mail as I only picked it up when we got to our work/snowbirding destinations. Here at the park where I'm staying if I was to get mail, I would have to have it sent to General Delivery at the local post office. So, give that some thought as you book campgrounds, RV spots, etc. You'll have to stay long enough to get your mail or be able to project where you will be after Escapees sends it out...took about 4 days to get my mail..., and you'll have to know the campground's policy on accepting mail. I note that my current campground does accept FedEx/UPS but not regular mail, and these are mostly snowbirds.

I'm a member but have never gotten anything worth my membership. That's more because I don't use them or stay at their parks. I chose not to use their mail service because then I had to remain a member. That was just my choice. I use America's Mailbox in SD as my mail service.

Escapees is well worth it for many.

I used a service called Earth Class Mail. All of my mail was handled online. They would scan the envelopes, and I would check off which ones I wanted them to open and scan the contents of. It worked well for me.
