Patstab, so sorry for your tooth problems. We are dealing with that in our house too. Husband, who had root canal last May with crown, followed by major cancer surgery with removal of half his palate and skin graft, followed by radiation, broke that same crown a couple af weeks ago. At first dentist thought he could fix it but the temporary failed while waiting for the permanent crown. Then the tooth developed a hairline crack all the way through the middle. Off to oral surgeon who informed us the tooth can't just be extracted because of the radiation. So hubby has to have 20 hyperbaric oxygen treatments in a chamber at 2.4 atmospheres before surgery to remove the tooth with a flap made to cover the wound, followed by 10 more hyperbaric treatments. Our radiation oncologist said that was exactly the right way to do it and ordered the HOT treatments. So it's Monday through Friday drive the 30 to 40 min to the center near UC Davis hospital in Sacramento and he relaxes in chamber for 90 min and i read while the treatment is done and then back and hubby can only eat puréed food as he is missing teeth on the other side too where the skin graft is. The good news is after all this is done the dentist can hopefully crown the tooth next to it on one side ( the other side is already crowned) and put in a permanent bridge. Gonna be a stressful month or so but hopefully in the end we can get back to our new normal. So we certainly sympathize and wish you the best on getting teeth fixed.
