New Paint Job

Postby rmsealarke » Mon Nov 25, 2013 1:07 pm

Hi!

I am having my 70-ish Serro Scotty professionally painted this next week and need to get my color scheme together. They usually have some sort of teal stripe or design. I was thinking about going with coral but not sure if that will devalue the camper when I am ready to sell it. Any thoughts?

Thanks so much,
Ruth Marie

Yes, that's what I thought I would hear, that is what I wanted to hear and that is what I will do. If I ever figure out how to post a picture (can't understand how you can be on the forum and the photo sharing site at the same time??? That's what the instructions say to ME.) I will be sure to share. It will be before christmas, I hope. Thanks, You all are great! :D

You need to open two windows to be both places at once :) ..

And I agree, do what YOU want ... it's your home.

Absolutely paint it however you want it! I lelt the Vintage Shasta bunch ruin my fun with my first Shasta. They were fanatics about keeping it authentic while I was admiring some of the great jobs done by the Sisters on the Fly! I'll be waiting to see pics of your CORAL Scotty! :) Maybe you can inspire me to keep working on my Frolic to make it like I want it. There's the "glamping" bunch who tend to go for the vintage look, but I like the ones best that people really personlized.

As long as it looks good and isn't tacky you won't lose any money. Do what you want with it. Unless you are gutting it and doing a complete renovation of the trailer inside and out you won't be adding lots of value to it anyway. Make it comfy for you and please yourself.

We often sacrifice what we would like in order to placate the next owner! When you put it in writing like that, it does seem a bit ridiculous. How many times have we not knocked down a wall in a home, put up funky wallpaper or painted the kitchen a weird color, didn't paint that antique because everyone was horrified that we'd "ruin" it, not shortened a skirt/dress or changed the neckline of an irritating blouse - all because the next owner may not want that? Can anyone remember plastic sofa covers? 'Nuf said.

I let my daughter paint hippy flowers all over my yellow 1974 VW bug including peace symbols on both doors. Everyone LOVED the bug. The next owner, I'm told, painted it white. Boring!! Maybe I'll paint flowers all over my Roadtrek. I don't care what the "next" owner wants.
