I am so glad you are safe and hopefully the damage is quickly repaired. The two young men reminded me of a tire incident I had in Hawaii. We lived on Oahu while husband was stationed there. I was headed in one day to Honolulu (we lived on Wheeler AFB in Navy housing-another story for another time.) I was cruising along when a tire on my car blew out. I made it safely to the shoulder and being much younger than now and my usual independent self I got out jack and spare and handles and went to work. Before long a car pulls off behind me and a guy jumps out and offers to help. I declined. He stood there moving from one foot to the other and tries again. After several more of the no thanks and please let me help I am getting exasperated as he is holding up my operation. (grin). Finally I asked why he was so persistent. You know what he said? ....... "If my wife were in this situation I would hope someone would stop and help her as I would not want her along side a busy freeway by herself.". Needless to say I relented and he quickly finished the job I started and we both went on our way. I have never forgotten his kindness that day and it was about 35 years ago now.
You did a very good thing by sending their boss a note. Perhaps the story will get retold by the boss and other young men will learn what a good thing they can do.

It's a scarey situation, for sure. Glad the young men stopped. When I had my blowout a couple of months ago, even the cops zoomed right by me! Glad I had ERS. Now for a funny:

Years ago, my cousin was hugely pregnant and had a blowout. She stood by the car looking helpless and all the cars passed her up. Finally, she dug out the spare, jacked up the car, had the spare almost on when a man stopped and said, "Mam, you shouldn't be doing that in your condition." She replied, "Fifty thousand other men weren't concerned about that, why should you?" She had the tire all on by then and left him beside the road scratching his head.

That's the funny thing - this is a single axle trailer and it didn't sway at all and I really didn't feel anything. I check my mirrors to make sure it's tracking and never saw anything.

And I have Good Sam ERS but all I could think was that I was glad these guys stopped and helped and I wasn't stranded on the side of the road any longer waiting for the ERS wrecker to show up - it was hot and I had the pups in the back seat!

You were so lucky those young men stopped to help you. It seems like it takes forever for the road services to get someone to you and twice I have had someone show up without the equipment to get my wheel off. It's been years but I have been on the side of the road and had police vehicles pass and not stop to see if I needed help. But have also had one deputy stay with me until I was back on the road.

Hope they can get your trailer fixed so you don't miss the fall camping. Where we live we really look forward to spring and fall.

Might be a Texas thing. With my tire issue a guy did a u-turn to see if he could help. Called a local tire guy to switch out my spare, waited till the guy arrived and also refused any money. Super nice but he did confess that he might not have stopped for a guy. Too dangerous.
