A Little Help From My Friends

I've never done anything like this before, but I'm wondering if you all would be willing to help out my little school in an oh-so-easy way ...

There's an app for both iPhones and Androids called Shoparoo. Without giving a ton a detail, it's a website that will provide money to schools when you take a picture of your receipts. It's not much, but it adds up over time. All you need to do is register and designate our school as the recipient. I've been doing it for about 6 weeks and haven't gotten any spam, weird phone calls or odd snail mail. You'll see that there are some restrictions, like no gas or restaurant receipts. Our school's name is Alice Ellington, in Covina CA. Once you download the app you'll be able to start immediately and keep track ofour school's progress.

Laura, I'm concerned that they are collecting information since you have to set up an account. I'm pretty leery of this type of thing. Why would they donate money for pictures of receipts? Doesn't make sense.

Karen, I don't have an answer, but lots of folks are doing it for schools. I don't know if somehow the company gets a kickback for places shopped, but I haven't had any issues, nor has anyone in the District who's used it.

If I ever get a phone that I can put apps on I would but I'm still in the horse and buggy cell phone age.
