I need some advice about purchasing an adult folding tricycle. I believe some of you have them. With a bad knee, the other one iffy and a hip that is bothered by arthritis I do not feel safe on my bicycle, so want to purchase the tricycle. do you have any brands you recommend? Where did you purchase yours?

I bought the one they sell at Camping World. So far, I like it a lot. It seems easier to peddle that the normal bicycle and almost impossible to loose your balance. I use it to give my big dog some real exercise when my knees & hips aren't up to the really long walks and he can not pull me off balance with 3 wheels. I have pictures of me with the tricycle and one with it folded and on the rack on the back of our coach on my blog.

I ordered the folding trike Walmart sells. I don't remember the brand but they only have one folding one online. My son put it together for me yesterday. It seems to be well built. It's easy to peddle on pavement but not so much on our gravel driveway. The folding trikes have 20" wheels so was wondering if one with 24" or 26" wheels would be easier to peddle. I never did find a larger one that folded. I had to put the seat up high so my legs would be straight and I'm not that tall. I will have to get one of the trays if I want to haul it because it won't fit through my motorhome door.

I tried to ride it up the hill our house is on and couldn't make it. I'm not use to a bike with a hand brake so started going backwards. I was laughing so hard I almost ran into a tree backwards. I didn't think I needed a helmet but might have to rethink that. My DH thinks I should see someone because I might be nuts.

I could feel my knees yesterday after riding it but am ok today.

Going down hill backwards   I'm sure you were laughing. The trike I have has both hand brakes and pedal brakes, so I dont think about it much. Which ever my brain wants to use at the time. I ride around the gravel that is on top of semi-hard packed OK!! Not that much effort. But won't work with the deep gravel.
