Waxing my RV

I am new to the RVing world and was wondering if I could get some advise. I recently purchased a 2012 Winnebago class B & I don't know how often I should wax it ? It is 24 feet and it looks really big when I think about waxing it ! Lol..

Some say once a year. Some twice. Some quarterly. Some monthly. Get the idea? How often do you wax a car? I do feel it's necessary more often if in salt air, though.

What model did you get? I have 2012 Itasca (made by Winnebago) Navion iQ. Just curious.

I try to put a good marine type/ UV protection wax on mine twice a year. In between, I use a RV wash/ wax product when washing it. This year I forked over too much money to have someone else do the big job.

I am impressed that you are even considering waxing it!

I have washed mine a couple of times by myself, and it is a really big job--literally!

We bought a new 2012 Itasca Cambria last year and it has a finish that does not need waxing for 5 years! There is no way either Terri or I could wax it so we were very pleased to have that finish!! At my age getting on the roof would not be possible and that is good cause we don't even have a ladder!!!

Regardless of how many times a year that you decide to do it, please be careful!

Bonnie - you still need to check the roof at least once a year. The sealant/tape needs to be checked for cracks and pulling away so that you don't get leaks. I need to do mine pretty soon this spring.

Thanks for the advise...I suppose I can wait for a year or so before wax my ERA . I like the idea of a wash/wax combo.
I am really excited about getting out in my RV this spring. I take it out every weekend but only on day trips. It has been winterized and that was a sad day for me, I have only had it a couple months. We are thinking about driving to Nashville in April. Any suggestions in the Nashville area for camp grounds ?

Depending on where you travel, you might want to get up on the roof more than once a year. I make it a monthly inspection ... to check caulking and edges and for any damage. I saved my ac cover from needing to be replaced by catching a crack in in ... sealed it two years ago and it's still going strong. Things happen. And if you park under trees, I suggest looking on the roof for limbs, etc before pulling out. One night (unless windy) shouldn't be a problem, but especially on extended stays ... you need to check it out. If you can't, have someone check for you. I'm not big in sealing the roof ... was told it wasn't necessary, but the edges, etc, definitely need to be checked. My leaks have all been due to damage done (a sign that cracked the edge in several places, then where the awning was removed after it broke and I should have caught that.) (I caught the sign, and supposedly had it fixed, several times ... unfortunately pinprick holes aren't all found and get bigger ... or so the folks who supposedly fixed it tell me.
