Catalina St. Park Tucson AZ

Postby jnof » Mon Nov 26, 2012 11:54 am

Hi, This is Jean and have been member for several months but beginning 1st journey from here to Florida. The park has great parking for large rigs and small. Mountains are awsome. Scrubby trees but great hiking.
Is anyone in this area through this week? I would like to talk RV with someone who has any more experience than me.
Thanks!

Jean, I am here in Ohio still. You can also check out the members map and PM folks that you notice along your route. Many of us may or may not be out on the road with our rigs but still jump in cars and can travel to meet you for lunch or dinner and the like. With PMs you can send out phone numbers and e-mail addresses because those posts are private..... :)

Jean, I'm in Arizona City for the winter. I've been in Tucson a few times already and will be there on Wednesday this week for a bit. If you're available would love to meet with you. I've been to Catalina SP before - it's a nice one.

Let me know if you'll be available on Wed. I have to do some work in Tucson, but could meet after - or during - or somehow lol... Just need to be back to Arizona City before too late. I don't do much driving at night any more ...

Hi Jean, I just wanted to say WELCOME and this is a fantastic group of ladies and you'll learn a lot. I'm in Phoenix and still working but I don't get out
much. That will change though as I get closer to retirement. Enjoy the forum and look around and just so ya know...we LOVE pictures!

I'm guessing a couple hundred miles from you up in Quartzsite ought to come check us out :D
but while in Tucson you totally need to go to the Desert Museum I think if you do a search on
the forum you'll find postings on it but ask around for the directions it's really a neat place.
Also the Sarajevo National Park isn't far off either

Definitely visit the Sonoran Desert Museum. http://www.desertmuseum.org/ It is quite a drive from Catalina State Park, but well worth an afternoon or morning.

Another interesting place is the Pima Air and Space Museum. While there I took a tour of the "boneyard" which is where the military stores old planes and breaks them up for parts and scrap. http://www.pimaair.org/

There is lots of large vehicle parking at both places, but I do recommend that you do not let your GPS take you to the Desert Museum through the Tucson Mountain park on West McCain Loop Road. You are better off going the slightly longer way. I think it was Via West Mile Wide Road and S. sandario Road. Ask around. I have a 32' Class C and did not like the tight turns. If yours is smaller, though, it might be fine.
