Extended Warranties

I have had my first run in with the extended warranty on the motorhome. The slide out doesn't work. They can get it out, but not back in. Very obvious it is broke. The adjustor showed up yesterday and sent his report in. The warranty company said I would have to authorize and pay to have them take the slide out, out and then put it back so they can determine what caused the problem. Bottom line they are looking for a way to avoid paying for the repair. I talked to them and they would not budge an inch. So after some thought, told them I would leave the unit, pull the slide out, out, but keep it out until the repair is done. That should cut down on what I have to pay.

They pump you up that you are getting a policy that will cover everything from the engine back. But they don't tell you is that when the repairs are (maybe) paid for, they will nickle and dime you to death on what you have to pay for. ie screws, sealant, gaskets and so on. I am truly disgusted with this extended warranty through Good Sam's. When all this is finished, I am going to write some letters about the problems.

So if you want an extended warranty, be sure to check it out carefully before you purchase it.

That was the experience I had with an extended warranty. My motorhome was on a rack with all the wheels off because of brake problems and they wanted me to bring it to another shop because they didn't like what the shop it was in was saying. They try everything in the book to keep from paying. If it hadn't been so far I would have towed it to the dealer that sold the warranty and let it set on their rack while they fought with the company.

My experience (previously) with extended warranties is that it has to be DEAD before they will do anything. It cant just be broken, no no no. They would only pay if it was dead. I had an A/C unit that wouldnt blow cold air so they wouldnt pay because the motor was working, never mind that it was leaking freon, etc. It was a reputable company too so my advice...Put that money in the bank......cause you are going to need it anyway.

I agree with putting the money in the bank. I am so disappointed in the extended warranty.

I really hate to hear that.
It is rare that I buy any kind of extended warranty but I did just that on Magic.
