Do I have enough.....

Hi ladies, Well I have been thinking about it, and think I want to join your GTG
in Florida. A little nervous, first camping trip and first GTG. Sleeping in van
to and from Pa and Fl don't count as camping in my book. Any way what I would
like to know is do I have enough to do it. Here is what I have (no pic yet ) Van with
bed, Coleman 12v/elec. cooler, elec fan, heated lap blanket for cold nights, odds
& end for cooking/eating, small round fold up table, camp chair, coleman lantern(don't know how
to light it yet)...what else to I need. Should I do an over night camp at a local place before
the GTG??? I know ...stupid questions...lol. Oh Maggie can't for get her or "stuff". I really need
to get out and make some friends, being new to FL I have none here. Well what do you think?
What else do I need, or do? Also I have a blog are we alowed to post it here?
Thanks
Donna

Donna, as long as you are comfortable, I would think you have what you need. I have not been to a GTG yet either, but I would imagine there will be a lot of ladies sitting outside of rigs to talk to and visit with. The getting together is the most important part. I am so looking forward to meeting the wonderful ladies I have become friends with on this forum. I would bet also that if you find you need something you don't have with you, at least one of us will have whatever that is to loan to you.

Do jump right in and meet us at the FL GTG. It would be wonderful to get to meet you in person.

Yes, you can put a link to your blog on your postings. That is how we travel with a lot of the sistahs. We are all just coming back from a virtual trip to Alaska over the summer because of blog posts. It was a wonderful trip for all of us that did not get to go along except through all the blogs.

Donna, I'm not sure if I have welcomed you yet but consider this my welcome too...It does sound like you are well equipped, however, I think the trial run would ease your mind. You most likely will find that you have forgotten the smallest thing yet something you would really miss. We would all happily help you out but some things are so personal like our favorite brand or comfortably broken in item.
It will be a fun time and I'm looking forward to meeting you as well as many of the other girls on the forum.

Echo and Kelly showed up with just a tent several years ago and they did fine, even with the snow  , so I think you will be fine! The only thing you HAVE to bring (manditory!) is your appetite!

And remember if you forget something, either one of the ladies may be able to help you out, or you are never too far from Wal-Mart :D

Really don't stress...what someone else thinks they have to have you may not feel the same. Think like an adventurer. You have some clean underwear/clothes, some munchies so you won't starve, a tooth brush, a towel and some soap (while traveling in Alaska Nan told me it is important that I shower occasionally :) ) Several of us manage to always drag along an extra chair that can be borrowed for that campfire.

The most important part is to just get there.... :) you will figure out what you need and either go get it, borrow it or do without!

Relax. You are going to have a grand time. Like the others said, you can borrow or make a walmart trip if needed. :D

Hi Donna,

Your list looks pretty good, but I would add a flashlight or small battery powered light for use inside the van. An extra blanket/sleeping bag always comes in handy, either around you if cold or underneath for extra padding.
