Lake Is Really Down

Postby Dawn309 » Wed Sep 12, 2012 4:54 pm

I reallized today as I took the dogs on their walks how low the lake is since the first time Chuck and I started coming here in 2007.

This is the dock we fished from the first time we came here. We were sitting on the far side of the dock and the water was hitting us in the back from the boat wakes that day.

You can really see how low the water is in this picture. It used to come up to the concete slab on the right side of the picture, which is where the boat ramp begins.

I sure hope the country comes out of this drought pretty soon. I know last year, we were really glad we did not have to buy hay for the goats since we had bought enough the year before to carry us 2 years. I really feel for the farmers and ranchers right now. I cannot imagine what hay is going for this year. I know it was unbelievably high to us last year.

Oh, wow, that is amazing. I went to several seminars and conferences at Lake Murray back in the 80-90's and remember what a lovely (and large) lake it was. People were boating and water-skiing and swimming. I would have thought with all the rain this year that it would have helped, guess not.
