Hope that Vickie or Martha have electricity this morning and can check in. Prayers go out to Carolyn - no fun to be without electricity overnight when the wind is howling.

We are just getting wind gusts that we can hear in the house. The wind isn't constant and no rain yet. The storm is just to the East of us and still a hurricane. It is moving so slow it is going to take a long time to get out of here.

I took my hanging basket and put it in the old house before it got beat up. My Ficus tree is still under the back overhang tied to the stairs. So far it isn't getting much wind. I hate to have to wrestle that thing in the house. It gets to spend the winter in the house but every time I move it in or out it takes it a while to recover.

I hope we don't lose power but rather not have it in the day time than at night. The places that have lost power won't get it back until after the storm moves off and the repair crews can get out.

We're still good here too, but we're a lot further away from it than Martha and Carolyn. After I posted that Carolyn's electricity had gone out, went back to FB and she said it was back on and expected that it would be on and off for the night, haven't checked FB yet this morning.

You have all been on my mind today and prayers that you stay safe. Have a grand-daughter who just moved to Baton Rouge to attend school at LSU so have you all on mind. Glad to hear that things are going well so far.

Glad to hear you are all doing OK. Sounds like you have a lot more rain coming. Stay dry if you can.

Looks like here in SW LA, we dodged the bullet. We will still have a little wind, but they dropped our rain chance for tomorrow to 40%!!!

I think it's over by the Louisiana/Mississippi state line because the warning was for towns in both states.

So hopeful that things will return to normal soon for you all in the storms way. We are waiting anxiously here for it to bring some rain, but not 17 inches like in Baton Rouge, although we are 14 ' below normal. My nephew in BR had a small tree uproot partially and lean on the house, the wind changed directions or something and straightened it back out! Said he will still have to tie it as it may not make it after the trauma.

The dam is in Mississippi and the area that they are evacuating is North East of Baton Rouge. The Kentwood area and South of there. East Louisiana is where most of the rain fell so I'm sure they don't need any more water. Carolyn and I are more in the South center of the state.

It's still pretty breezy here today. I don't know how long it's going to take the storm to move out of the state. We have had a few rain bands come through but it was mostly mist instead of rain.

I think I will go get my motorhome this afternoon. I left it where my son lives and they don't want motorhomes parked there. I was hoping they would think it was a van for a few days. ;)

Martha, I would hope they'd make exceptions about parking during these extenuating circumstances.

Glad all of you dodged the bullet - at least the major one - but my heart goes out to all those in the areas hit hardest. Seems like Mississippi is getting deluged again.

Watching news now about the dam that may be breached north of New Orleans. So scary for those people.
