Deer Run over

Postby Travelinana » Mon May 07, 2012 5:13 pm

Sarah, Wendy and I went our separate ways this morning. I ran into a horrible rainstorm in Knoxville..I didn't think it safe to pull over or even change lanes (was in middle) so I just kept creeping along. Everyone kept safe distances thank goodness. I wondered if Sarah and Wendy outran it. I am stopped for the night just outside of Asheville, got myself a dandy headache so will try to sleep it off...stress I'm sure. This is exciting week for the Alaska bound...

Nancy, I saw you subject and quaked. I was thinking that you had hit a deer. As in deer hit by rv...deer run over. Certainly laughed at myself when I read your post. Sorry you had the rain to drive in. I don't like that. Will stay at my cg another night to make sure that I avoid a "maybe" rain storm. Be safe tomorrow. Glad you had a good time and hoping you are coming to TX in Oct/Nov.

Worst rain storm I ever drove thru was in Tn going to a GTG 3 or 4 years ago near Nashville. It was so bad on the freeway that all of us were slowed down to about 35mph. It poured so bad the car in front of me literally disappeared. I got to the next exit and pulled off for a half hour or so until it slowed down, not an easy feat with the car behind me. I called one of the girls at the GTG 50 miles up the road and she said it was dry there, come on in! LOL! It can be pretty scary driving in that stuff, all you need is one idiot to ruin your day. But....you did it, good for you! At least it wasn't that ugly white stuff....been there, done that, too! LOL!

Hope you made it to Asheville without any more unwelcome elements complicating the adventure. I do like that area of NC. So glad that you were able to make the gtg. I think sometimes the smaller gtg's definitely provide more time to visit and actually hear most of the conversations. :D

Sarah has landed safely at The Blue Marlin.
She can tell you of her experience(s) getting here.
(don't let her "forget" to tell you about being pulled over by the Po-Po...)

I'll try to post details of my first solo trip in Magic for you tomorrow. Can tell you it was long and involved a little bit of everything without any of it being too bad.. However, much to my surprise, I still do not regret getting her - just need it to get a little easier.

really hated saying good by this AM.

Sarah, you are holding out on us. I didn't even know to lose sleep! But you know you really should have just waited and followed those two up the road to Alaska! We will all miss not having you there with us. :) The trip would have broken you in...or broken something... :?.... in the trying  Waiting for full details out here in forum land.

Sarah, I'm so glad you made it there..good for you! Now, tell us what happened..not nice making us wait :? I am a couple of hours from my brother's but didn't want to go in too late. I tried to find a Wallyworld just outside of Asheville, did park at a Pet Smart for awhile but something didn't feel right for the entire night so cranked Destiny and came on to Shelby, NC. I think Raquel (gps) is working now. She is talking to me and seems to jive with the map. I am still in a side area of a big grocery but felt very safe. The poppies on the side of road are beautiful..did I get a picture..NO!! but I might get one today if it doesn't rain all the way

WOW! Lots going on out there in camperland! There are many on the roads now, and many still preparing to get on the roads. It's a busy time of the year, for sure.

Tomorrow I should be in Virginia at the Fredericksburg/Washington KOA to meet up with Irmi, Shirl, Brenda, and maybe Paulette sometime? I think there might be someone else, too, who said they might stop by. Whatever and whoever, I will be glad o find the place and settle in for a few days!

Now then, Sarah-----about the PoPo!!!!

Happy travels!
