Come on in and say hello.

swansonia from South Mississippi

Hello everyone. I'm Karen from a little mapdot in South Mississippi. My DH and I bought a Tiffin Allegro this summer. I had camped off and on from childhood, but my hubby has never camped. He insisted on the class A even though I thought a B+ or a C would be more to my liking. I have adjusted (rather nicely) to the Allegro, however. My DH is a boat captain so he is gone for 2-3 months at the time so my sis-in-law and I camp a lot without the guys. (My brother works away also.) I have been thinking about a solo trip soon. Do any of you go solo? I'd be interested in your experiences. I would also like to find other RVers in the general area and meet others.

A huge number (maybe the majority) of the women on the forum travel alone. Single, divorced, widowed, or those whose husbands who can't or don't want to RV, are all well represented here. Check the GTG thread for the Texas GTG at Potter's Creek starting 31 Oct. We have ladies coming from Louisiana and beyond. So glad to hear you are getting out and enjoying the RV yourself.

Welcome! I do both - solo and travel with others. My SO works mostly weekends so he goes when he can, but I don't let that stop me. I also have my niece as a traveling companion.

Hi and welcome. I travel with my Mom. We are new to full timing, but so far enjoying it very much. Look forward to meeting up with you. If you can, the TX GTG would be a great place to come to. We look forward to hearing about your adventures.

Welcome to the forum. I'm a solo traveler with my 2 dogs. Check out the get togethers (GTG) to find what's scheduled.

Welcome to the forum. It won't take you long to figure out that a majority of us travel solo. No rules against bringing the male SO along but it helps if they have a good sense of humor and don't mind being outnumbered.

Hopefully you can make the TX gtg and get to put faces and laughter with posts and names....

Welcome. Solo here.

And if you're in South Mississippi - there are several not too far from you - just had a few gtg in Louisiana the past few days. Some gtg's are planned way in advance, others are spur of the moment - where people happen to be. We just love to meet fellow members.

Welcome, Swansonia! I love your reference to your hometown -- "mapdot" -- conjures up images of Smalltown, USA. Congratulations on jumping right in with your Class A. You'll have the best of all worlds: traveling with your DH, with another woman, and solo when you want to.

Except for a very small dog, I'll be soloing. I'm going to keep mostly to State Parks for when I want to spend several days, and I'll be watching for inexpensive RV parks for the overnights on the way to somewhere.

Do you have a first name you'd like us to use? Or shall we stick to "Swansonia" for a while? Either way, I'm glad you're here.

My name is Karen...and it's fine to call me Karen...
