Just want to introduce myself

Come on in and say hello.

Just want to introduce myself

Postby LynP » Mon Jul 23, 2012 11:37 am

Hi I just found and joined your group yesterday. I have been a full time RVer for the past 6 years. However, I have had my RV parked on my daughters property in Oceanside, California and have only gone on a few local camping trips with my grandchildren. So driving my RV on a long distance trip is not something I have done yet. I love living in my RV and have really enjoyed down sizing. I still own a home in Tucson, Arizona, which I might add I am trying to sell. My daughter and her family are moving to Costa Rica the 1st of Sept., so it will be the first time that I will actually be looking for places to park my RV. Since I live on a fixed income staying in an RV park in California is not in my budget. I plan on just cruzin around town and find different places to park. I have been kind of checking it out for the past 6 months so I have quite a few places already picked out. I can park down at the Harbor for $20.00 a night which I will be doing from time to time.

I know that I could drive my RV over to Tucson and there are RV parks that are affordable, but I really wanted to make it an adventure. All my life I have lived in that box that we choose to live in by societies standards, whatever those are. Since I lost my husband back in 2004 and for the first time in my life I am alone. I am now 70 but I have been married since I was 18. So needless to say the world is my oyster, which I might add at first was scary, but not I love my life and don't want to have another man in it. I remember when my husband died so many things that I had never done on my own, like stay in a hotel alone. To most people would be no big deal but to me it was an adventure. Since I have always believed that women are awesome and can do anything. The RVing to me is so fantastic. Any advise that all you fabulous ladies can help me with I am so open to it. I have owned many businesses over the years, worked for other people too. Business admin. support has always been what I have done when I worked for someone else. Have owned restaurants, upholstery business, have more tools then most men. Use to build furniture. But now that I am getting older am not able to do lots of the things that I have been doing all my life.

When I was 55 I went back to college and got a degree in computer science. Then I got a certification in Web Design and started a computer business. This is just some information about me that I wanted to share with my RVwomen members. I like to share whatever I can with other women so that they can be impowered. Please feel free to contact me at anytime. You can always reach me at lynpinto@gmail.com Thanks for your time.

and btw, I'm in Arizona too but come retirement I'll just be the winter snowbird but for now I'm still working.
You've certainly found the right place here with all the girls that already do it themselves. You probably
already noticed the group of girls making their trek through Alaska and we get some that trek through Mexico
as well and its always fun to travel along "virtually" Do you have any pets?

Thanks so much for your response to my post. I am so excited to be part of this group. Yes I have a little dog named Daisy. She belongs to my granddaughter Jackie, but Jackie and her family are moving to Costa Rica and they could not take the dog with them right now so I am taking her with me and my travels. So many things to learn about. I will appreciate anything that anyone wants to share.

Welcome to the forum, Lyn!

There are several different ways to post pics. Here are the two preferred ways, the first is using Picasa and the second is PhotoBucket.

Welcome! Too bad I am moving out of California in two days, or we could have met up! I live just inland from Del Mar off the 56, so not too far from you. I am moving back to Minnesota (temporarily I hope!), altho I love California. Maybe we will meet up somewhere else in the future as you head out on your new adventures.

This is a great, helpful, courageous, and goofy bunch of women on here, so feel free to ask questions, tell us more about yourself, share photos, and joke around some!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Welcome, Lyn. So many new adventures ahead for you. You might want to check out camp grounds that have a monthly rate.

Welcome to the forum. You have already mastered the art of living in your unit....sounds like you will be branching out to learn how to move it down the road from spot to spot. Living on a fixed income is still possible it just take more planning. Some areas of the counrty are less expensive that others and as mentioned monthly rents are less expensive that paying by the week or day...usually. Try and see if you can make it to one of the gtg's out on the west coast or maybe the one in TX in October.....Potential to learn and meet a few kindred spirits ...... Hope to meet you down the road.

Hi Lyn,

Glad to have you with us. Seems like you have empowered yourself more than once in your life - especially in the last several/dozen years. Good for you. I live on a small amount of money - not even fixed so that I know each month what I'll have. So I totally understand having to figure out where to stay. I've learned how to boondock and love doing it. I also workamp to augment my living and to go places I often couldn't afford to go otherwise. That's how I was able to come back to Alaska this summer. Lots of ways to do things, to live our dreams, eh?

Glad to have you with us. Oh, and I'll be in AZ for the winter this year. If you get over there, will hope we can meet up.

Welcome Lyn! I'm new too, but you're way ahead of me in already living in your rig for 6 years. I'm having so much fun with the research, I'm like a young female pup in heat who can't wait to get out there and just do it!

Congratulations on the empowerment. We're talking the same language there. My divorce two years ago, after 37 years of marriage, then breast cancer this spring (I'm healthy now!) have given me the gift of learning more about myself and my strength than I ever thought possible. Sounds like you're on the same road - lead the way, woman!

Welcome Lyn, You are indeed an inspiration to us all. When I read about your life in business I related. I have always been a self employed person, some ventures worked, others didn't but I am proud of them all..after all, these endeavors helped shape us into who we are. Going back to school is the one thing I wish I had done. I didn't get the hang of pictures for a long time. I prefer Picasa but some of the girls are very good at helping you. You sound like an interesting person. We want to hear from you often.
