Hello out there, I am also a newbie on the forum. I am a canadian, been living on a popular vacation and permanent resident rural island(about 10,00 residents) on the west coast for about 40 years. Access by ferry to Vancouver, ,B.C. and Victoria, B.C. I have been widowed and living solo in my home for over 8 years, and love my little acreage of serenity. However, in the past couple of years some personal stuff has happened to me , worst was my son was murdered in northern B.C. I have been working at dealing with all of the stuff that comes with homicide, grief, etc. And, I am also finding that living on a small island which is growing like mad with city people and the speed, speed speed is starting to get to me. I need a break, I need a new perspective.
My husband and I RV'd quite extensively over a 5 year span back in the late 90's early 2000 with 5th wheel. Been all over the U.S., Baja, did a little camphosting in Georgia which was fantastic. Loved the freedom. My mind goes to that free feeling and I am considering this is what I may need to work on my headspace and my perspective shift. However, being a female and travelling alone, and not having done this by myself, and investigating easy, small and affordable type of rig (don't want to haul anything..thinking of C class or converted Van) a little daunting as a few years have gone by since I was involved in the RV world. And, I am sure you will all agree that there has been a lot of changes in this weird world out there, particularly since 9/11. So, I guess I am throwing all this out to you ladies who are doing this RV world, or planning on it, and may have some advice and thoughts for me on my quest. Thankyou!!

Welcome to the forum. And my condolences on your son. To lose a child is almost incomprehensible, to lose one in a violent fashion...
And you will find us full of all kinds of advice, some of it useful!

So glad you found us. I am so sorry for the loss of your son. We all share our experiences and our thoughts and dreams. I am learning to pull a bumper pull. I had a small Class C for 6 years but with more travel planned for the next few years I needed more space plus real bed and recliner. Your home and acreage sounds like a beautiful place. Keep us posted on your plans and get ready for lots of 'help' and advise on any and all subjects.

Welcome!!! Welcome !!! So glad you found us, wonderful group of ladies here. So so sorry about your son !!, Others here have losses they are dealing with too. So you not only have joined a group of RV women, some do have spouses, or traveling buddies, but the majority of the women travel alone, and you will find plenty of support here in whatever you need. Now opinions, we are all good at, BUT they will all be so different you will have to decide among all the choices what is best for you.
I think you are very wise in looking for a different path for your life. I have been traveling alone for 11 1/2 yrs. and it's been the highlight of my life. We have GTGs(get-togethers)often in all areas of the country. We have several ladies in Canada. There is a GTG up in the northwest, check the GTG thread, maybe it's something you'd be interested in. You do not have to have an RV to attend, Some CGs have cabins. It's a great way to meet some of our members and I'm sure those ladies would love to have you there.
Join in often , I saw your question on other thread and looks like you've done everything right, especially in joining this great group!! Join in wherever you want a say so on a topic, its how we learn to know one another then when we meet at a GTG , we're already good friends.
Hopefully all your questions and the responses you get will help you decide the path for your new future. RV or not you are a member here.

Hi, there,
gloden. Welcome to a newbie even newbi-er than I! (My intro was just 3 days ago.) I can't give a lick of advice about a rig because I have zero experience RV'ing
, but I recognize in you someone who knows her heart. You're figuring out how to make your soul sing again and it sounds like you're well along in that part of the decision process. Over the last month I've seen the women here rally for each other - never mind they're 2000 miles apart. Stay in touch here, be supported.

Welcome! I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your son. I am one of the ladies here dealing with a recent loss. I lost my husband 2 months ago. Before he passed, we talked about me selling our small farm, buying a motorhome and traveling full time. It has always been my dream to see everything I can before I die too. I have never driven a motorhome, but my husband was really not fond of the idea of me pulling our 5th wheel, I will be purchasing a Class A and taking my Mom along on my travels.
Be sure and jump right into the conversations. We love opinions and pictures. This is a fantastic group of ladies. I found them not too long after my husband became really ill. This group accepted me and welcomed me into this family of Sistah's. There is no way I can express how much that has helped me. As it was said earlier, there is a group of ladies in your neck of the woods and I know they would love to have you at the next GTG.
I look forward to meeting you somewhere on the road.

A big Texas welcome to you. So sorry about your son. Glad you found us. Check out the RIGS section - may give you some ideas. What type of rig is so personal. Suggest to find a dealership and look at lots of different rigs. I just downsized from a 30' Class C in which I fulltimed to a Roadtrek Class B for weekends and shorter trips. You're from a beautiful area - I grew up in Seattle and Victoria was a favorite destination.

A great big pacific west coast thankyou to you all that have been so kind to welcome me and give me support for considering taking the plunge back in RV'ing, but on my own. I have wonderful friends in the U.S. from past travels with my now deceased husband. My goal would be to head down west coast, over to Arizona and BLM lands in Yuma area. Then head across Texas to Louisianna where Betty's RV Park is located and whom is such a delight. Head over to Georgia (Joja) to some very warm suth'rin friends in Twin City area who have kept in touch with me for over 10 years!! and then head up the incredible east side of U.S. through Northern Parkway and then go back into Canada and visit my son and sister in Nova Scotia. This is sort of a bucket list right now, but with all the sorrow that has set into my world in the past few years, it gives me warm memories and a feeling of possibility I can do it. Not to mention all you ladies that are there for support. Thankyou again.
