This is new for me: posting to an online forum, traveling alone, driving a Class C motorhome. I am a retired teacher who camped early in life in a tent and then in a pop-up camper (what my son and I called a tent with a comfortable mattress and air conditioner). After talking about it for years, I finally quit talking about a motorhome and bought one. I travel alone since most of my pals think that "roughing it" means staying in a hotel without a restaurant. It has been a real adventure so far. I joined the forum in the hope of learning up from down from folks who wouldn't condescend or call me honey. I hope to meet you meet fellow adventurers.

Hi Carol. So glad to have you with us. Have you started traveling yet? Are you fulltime or part time? How big is your C? Yes, nosy, aren't I? Share what you feel comfortable with and feel free to ask anything. While we won't be condescending, we will have opinions - and remember, our opinions and yours might not always be the same.
Jump in anywhere, everywhere. And yep, hope to meet you down the road.

Welcome to the forum, Carol. If you've browsed thru the posts and still decided to join the group, then there won't be any surprises. Well, of course, we can't promise that exactly
Looking forward to hearing more about you and your travels, and of course, pics, pics, pics. carold

Adding another welcome.
I'm also new to RVing and recently purchased a small Class C. Forum has proven to be an invaluable resource for all sorts of information for me. Am sure you will also find it valuable.
Tell us more about yourself and where you travel.

Wow! Glad to meet you all. My my, that sounded Southern. I Iive in South Louisiana. I like to say that on a good day I can smell the Gulf, and on a bad day it's in my yard.
In response to several of you, I have a 31 ft Greyhawk. I have started traveling, but mostly I've stayed in the SE. I figure I need the practice on flat land before tackling mountains. I've pretty much memorized the road between here and Florida where my son lives. I have coerced several friends into a Hot Springs jaunt. I figure if I provide steaks and wine we'll have a good first adventure together.
When and how do we start that section on good campgrounds? Or haven't I found the right button?

Welcome to another Louisiana camper. I live South of Abbeville, so close to the gulf that our house flooded for Rita and we had water for Ike. My DH is hardheaded, he just built a hill and we put a modular home on it. I looked for years to find women to camp with, my DH doesn't camp or travel. In the past 3 years I have joined several women's clubs and we have get togethers(GTG) in different areas. Mostly in Texas. I have a friend that lives at Butte La Rose that I camp with. You just missed a camp out in Colfax, up by Alexandria. We met 2 women from our area and several more from Louisiana.
We don't have anything planned until the Fall but you never know what we might be up to. There is a section for campground information already. There's also a section about the GTG's that might be planned and posts and pictures about how things went.

Good morning from not so sunny SoCal! Yup, quite a few southerners here along with teachers, so you should fit in nicely. And quite a few "sweeties and honeys" thrown out there, along with doofus, dufus and "normal" (normal being used as in "she ain't quite right"...that would be me
). I'll be in La this summer, so maybe you would like to GTG with a few of us there. Throw out any questions you have, you'll get answers, opinions and a complete range of ideas.
There's a thread about campgrounds on here somewhere...I keep saying I'm gonna post there, but so far haven't gotten around to it, and now have forgotten most of what I knew. sigh.

If you click Board Index and scroll down there is a place to post about campgrounds.
Don't be a stranger now, hear?

Yes there is a section - not used enough - for rv/cg reviews, etc. And I recommend
www.rvparkreviews.com for the best site out there for reviews. That said always read what people say - the reasons they like/dislike a cg might be the opposite of yours. I like secluded, have read reviews where it wasn't "lighted" enough - therefore bad review. The less lights the better in my mind. I never go by the numbers without reading their reasons. Know what's important to you (or learn as you go) and those things you look for in the reviews.
Lots of folks in your area - so you should be able to meet many quickly.
