Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. I found out about this group last summer while on my way back to New York from Texas. I ran into a gal named Sharon who was also traveling alone. Sharon gave me the name of this list but since I don't do anything fast, it's taken me this long to join. <vbg>
My name is Ronni (not short for anything and no 'e' please..and I am a gal..lol) and I live in New York about 65 miles north of the Big Apple. I'm married (almost 47 years...yikes...lol) and I'm retired. Before retiring, I was a secretary for the school district here so I had summers off and traveled all over the place....without hubby! lol What I mean is...I drove the RV to where we were going and hubby flew out to meet me. Hubby is not retired. Yet.
We started out with a 2001 class C. No slides, tiny bathroom, but we had a great time in it. Then, last summer while on the way to visit our kids in TX, the engine on the rv blew up...threw a rod! I had to replace the engine and after a week was able to continue on my trip. Oh...did I forget to mention I travel with 8 dogs? Yep...8 Papillons who I show. Needless to say, while the rv was being repaired, I had to sneak my dogs into a motel with a 2 dog policy...good thing my dogs are well behaved and the owner never knew they were all there. The gals behind the desk were great and would warn me when the owner was around.
Hubby felt it was time to bite the bullet and we went RV shopping while in TX. We found a new Class A that we love. It's a Monaco Riptide with bunk beds for the grandkids or dogs (depends on where we are) and compared to the old class C, it's nice and roomy. Since we got it in August, I've put 8k miles on it and that wasn't even using it during the winter.
I'm now getting ready for my first trip of the season...just making it local for a long weekend. Mid June I leave for my summer marathon trip....first to FL, then on to TX. Hubby will meet me in both places.
Hope to meet some of you along the way! Hope this intro wasn't to long!!
