Hello everyone. Just want to say thanks for having me. I hope to learn alot and make new friends. My hubby and I just purchased our first RV and we are looking forward to getting out on the road. Its an older modle, but it will be great for us. Our first trip... maybe... will be to Arkansas some time in May. I'm not sure I want to wait that long to take her out for the first time..
I will appreciate any and all tips and advice. Joy..

Welcome Joy,

Glad to share in your excitement with your 'new to you rig'. I also think you should take a trip NOW! It is the excitement of "We are really going to do this!" You need, tell your Honey, that you think you guys need to make a shake down trip - like up to Memphis for something wonderful....now what would be wonderful for you guys in Memphis?

And Joy don't be afraid to drive that rig yourself. Never know when he might step out the door and break a leg while on a trip. So then you would be able to step in and drive that 'thang'. You are woman, you can do it. Looking forward to sharing adventures with you.

Hi Joy and welcome to the forum. Come on up in May to Crossville for the TN gtg. I'm originally from Etowah so you are in my neck of the woods.

Hi Joy! I second the be afraid to drive the thing. And also learn all the steps to setting it up. You never know what may happen. A friend of mine's DH had heart trouble and it flared up while they were out. She had to learn on the fly.

Thank you Ladies for the warm welcome.. As soon as I figure out how, I will post pics.. Not real sure how to do that...
Birdie.... That is good advice... learning to drive myself. Its not great big, so I should be able to do that.. I am gonna tell my honey that we need to take a short trip first..
Travelinana.... We will be going to Mountain View, AR.. Not too sure about exactly when. The dates haven't been set yet. After we leave there, we are going down to MS to visit Mark's cousin, then home.
SunshinecruieserTN.... Oh yes, I know exactly where Etowah is. My daughter lives just outside of Etowah. Her kids go to Etowah City and Central. That's where I went to high school at. It is so nice to "meet" someone on here from my neck of the woods.

It is probably one of the things....if you can drive a pickup you can drive a Class C. Since you are from TN, we know you can drive a pick-em-up-truck, but you need to remember that your butt will be sticking out back there and you TURN very carefully or you can wipe out a gas tank, fence post, mail box, side of a building and just bunches of other stuff. I missed a gas pump by a silly little millimeter, on my second driving experience. After I started breathing again, I made a mental note "long butt" turn wide.

So, you just go drive it - WalMart parking lot, school parking lot on early Sunday morning are great times. Put several milk jugs out and drive between them and back up between them, then back up and park at a designated spot.....that's fun. That's about all there is to it. Go Girl!!!

Welcome Joy, don't know what part of Tenn that is but if your travels take you thru Ala, stop and holler in Birmingham. I too am a transplanted westerner, but its been years and my Mom always said I sounded completely southern! Wendy
