I am not new at rving, just at doing it alone. My DH passed away a little over two years ago. Alzheimer took him at the early age of 65. From diagnoses to death five years six months. I will have my 70th birthday three days before this Christmas.
Like WanderinMoon I also thought I was off my rocker for wanting to rv alone. But it just really got the best of me. I could not get the idea out of my mind. I started analyzing what I would be most comfortable driving and being in. In passed years have had a truck camper, a 5th wheeler, then a 31' Winnie Minnie. The WM I had to do all the driving, setting up/breaking down camp, and any trouble shooting. So there was no question of can I do it just, what fit me.
I shopped around locally. Could not find what I wanted started looking on line for a used one. I can not believe what I did. I bought a class B over the internet. '09 Pleasure Way with 4,103 mi. Had never had it's 1st oil chg.
It was delivered to my door on the 22nd of June. I have not been "real camping" yet. I don't do heat very well. My use has been just a couple of trips to my hometown, Bossier City, LA.
Glad to have found this group. Y'all sound like a hoot. I would like to join y'all at the Oct gtg. Please let me know what I need to do. I have a fur baby to ravel with me, a 10 lb. white Chihuahua with a handicap. I will post pictures of PW and furbaby when I learn more about how to. Gloria

Welcome Gloria. So sorry you've had trouble getting your posts to work. Gals, she's struggled with this - so give your a big welcome. I'm hoping that it's fixed and she can post ok now - I helped get her intro posted. She's hoping to join in the AR gtg - and we all know how much fun those gtg's are. Being in La - some of you might get to meet her even sooner.

Glad to have you with us, and hope to see you posting without problems now.

Welcome Gloria, I certainly relate to thinking I must be crazy for wanting to do this alone, and my family and a few friends have reinforced it. I found this forum and now I know I'm not crazy at all unless we're all a bunch of crazies  I'm sorry for the loss of your husband. We are all so anxious to see pictures of your new PW. I am in ARK over 100 now for days and have no desire to go south in the summer except I just did for a granddaughters wedding. My trips south will be late autumn and winter from now on so I understand your reluctance for moving about much in LA. My longings now are for the mountains or cooler sections of country. This group loves to hear about your life and plans and always loves pictures even if it's just around your home and your furbaby. My furbaby is what I call a Benji dog.
We're too close not to meet soon. I live on a beautiful Corps of Engineers Lake so maybe a trip up this way might fit in your agenda sometime.

Hey, Gloria!
So glad you found us, and Beth, thanks for helping her get to us.
I wanted a PW for the longest time, but they are just not found in my area so I kinda settled on what I now have. It has been a good rig, but still pine for a real "B".
We'll anxiously await pictures of your rig and furbabies and whatever else you may want to share.
Welcome! :D

Yea, another Louisiana member. I live South of Abbeville and we have 2 other members in Louisiana. Carolyn lives in Butte LaRose and Vickie lives near Sulphur. Too bad you didn't find us a few months ago, we had a GTG in Butte LaRose the end of April before all the flooding. We had a blast. You can read about it in the GTG section. Carolyn and I belong to the Texas Chapter of RVing Women and we have made a few rallies together. My husband doesn't RV so I was so happy when I found some women to camp with. I know what you mean about Louisiana in the summer. My sister and I went to Toledo Bend for the 4th and then I went on to Spring, TX for a small GTG. It was HOT.

I went to high school in Shreveport when my dad was at Barksdale AFB. I haven't been back to that area in a long time.

I feel another GTG coming. lol

Welcome Gloria! I also lost my husband after years of camping and RVing in all types of equipment over the years. It took me almost four years of mulling the idea around in my mind, and am still just in the last year getting into doing it on my own. I went to a gtr in Fla as my first trip of any length and have also met a couple of these great ladies coming through my area (I am in central HOT HOT) Alabama). Without running into this group I don't think i would have even tried it. I currently have the 31 Four Winds MH we had, and a what I can "high-maintanence" Cocker Spaniel named Pepper.Just ask anyone who has met Pepper! Welcome again. Wendy

Welcome Gloria from the west coast! Gonna be going thru your area in August, hope you can join up with Martha, Carolyn and me! Not sure of the dates yet....I tend to travel w/o definite plans and then just hope someone is available to hook up with.

I went to the Bossier City Harley dealer last year....got some great deals on a couple of shirts and a purse. Nice little store. Can't say the casino treated me as well, altho dinner was fabulous and free for a new member!

Sure hope you can make it to the Arkansas GTG in Oct....you're more than welcome.
