Well, you did an introduction - so looks like you figured it out :) Glad to have you with us. Read and reply anywhere you'd like. Lots of others who have come here first before deciding what they want to do. We are quick to give our opinions, of which they vary widely. So fasten your seatbelt. :)

Thank You Bethers,
So it did not just go out into outerspace!!! I live in North Carolina and have traveled with a gentleman for about a year.
Until all of a sudden we are no more. I am very sad as I love the life style, and then decided I do not need a man to take
me. I can do it, just have to figure it all out. Sounds so exciting. I was wondering if there were woman who took on an
apprentis, share expenses etc and taught them the tricks to the travel. I know I want a motorhome for sure. Already had
a fifth wheel yars back and loved it. That was when AI lived in California and parked it at the ocean.
Are there clubs/groups in areas and states. Kinda looks like Florida may be the closest to me.
Take care and be safe Rita

Welcome Rita. So you do have a bit more experience than your first email indicated. That is always good. There are a lot of women on this forum that travel alone in their RV, some are single and some are married but spouse doesn't share their love of RV travel. There are also quite a few blogs out on the Internet written by women who travel alone. I recommend you take a look at them for some more ideas on what it is like to travel by yourself. "Me and My Dog" http://dewelldesigns.blogspot.com is just starting her RV adventure on the road. You can read about what she went through to get ready. Bethers (our forum guru) has a good blog of her travels http://ontheroadwithbeth.com/blog. Liz also just started her full-time adventure http://wheresliz-2011.blogspot.com. ljpeterlin has been on the road for a few months now http://ljpeterlin.wordpress.com. There are lots of others out there but all of these ladies are members of our WomenRV forum and they full-time on their own. I would advise that you read the forum, put in your thoughts, get to know people on the forum, and good things will follow. There may be a GTG somewhere near enough for you to attend. Sometimes someone without an RV will come and stay in a cabin if there is one to rent at the site.

Welcome Rita! You can join all the clubs you want or none at all depending on you! There are many women who have never even been in a rv who have jumped right in, asked questions, learned and love it.

To all of you who have responded to my post....a warm and gratful thanks.
I knew it would be this way however, I have meet so many great people on the road.
I think it brings out the best in us to feel the freedom of being able to do and go anywhere
the winds and GAS takes us.
I love hearing all the incouragement. IF all would just fall into place it could happen sooner rather than
later. I just want to start now while I am able, as life is so short, I feel I need to live each day to its fullest.

When I traveled this past year we did alot of rallies and caravans. Are the woman members of FMCA and do you
attend that type of events also? We did the Nachez Trace in the spring and it was marvelous. What a great place
in the world and now the Mississippi has claimed a great deal of the area.
Is there a membership with RVING Women which would be helpful also? I think I have seen it on the web.

Bethers, I do not quite figure the forum out, please bare with me.
Again thanks, be safe ladies. Rita

Hi Rita,

I, too, only recently joined this forum but unlike you I have very little experience in the lifestyle. I just bought my first RV and will finally be getting on the road in June. I lurked on this forum for a while before joining and have been impressed with the camaraderie here. Hearing the experiences of other women gives me the confidence to venture forth knowing if they do it, I can too.

Look forward to your posts.

Welcome aboard. Many of us travel and camp by ourselves. I few with partners. And many meet at gtg's. Some decide to travel together for periods of time or make arrangements (using the map or knowledge of where members live) to met up with other members as they head cross county to other destinations. Some full time, some part-time with stick houses and others are still dreamers. Jump in and read and ask questions. Life is too short and there is no secret answers for all your questions. Many of the answers we just learn to make up or find as we go along......very individual. Keeps us appreciating life and the diversity of styles for sure. :)

Tina said most of what I was going to.

Like you, I just had to get on the road before I couldn't anymore. And here I am - starting my 7th year this summer and still loving it as much as when I took off. And doing it solo. Maybe it'll help you to know that I bought my rv having never ever traveled in one and disliking old-fashioned camping. I knew nothing and took off full-time! And learned along the way. And learned a lot more after having a group like this one to help me.

I don't caravan (don't like it) but will travel in a very small group (1 or 2 other rigs) occasionally - especially if the others are members of this forum. I enjoy my solitude - and also enjoy meeing up - so the occasional gtg's with this group takes care of that for me, and then workamping some seasons takes care of reminding myself that being social is occasionally needed also. I don't belong to FMCA, but know many who do and love it. I also don't belong to Escapees, but many do and love that also. I have attended a couple of the big rallies put on by the group behind Good Sam's Club and was glad to do it and will again if one is at a date and time that I can work out.

This lifestyle is different for all of us - what one of us likes, another might not, etc. I prefer out of the way places and boondocking in the middle of nowhere to the crowds - most of the time. Then I spend some seasons at resorts (like this summer) and love them - places I probably wouldn't go to otherwise. I travel the backroads by choice and try to avoid interstates and toll roads. Others on here will do the opposite. You'll find out which works best for you as you do it - so listen to us, but remember, this is your journey. Make it work for you. And share please.

welcome to this wonderful world of the rv lifestyle. I'm not on the road yet, I'm counting down the time until retirement though and I do have
my fifthwheel which I plan on trading in for a small class c. Have you any clue yet which type of rig you want? RV shows are great for that learning
process and also the online sites you can study up on floor plans, etc. Do you have any pets you would be traveling with?

HAPPY SUNDAY & MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

you have all been so great, I do not know what I want, or shall I say what the pocket and capablity wants. I was blessed
in traveling in a beautiful 42 ft Monaco Camelot, which I do not want for sure....too much for me. But what a beauty.
Thanks for the note Travelinana, your advise is well taken. Only thing I know is I want a Motorhome, and I want a bedroom style floor plan. Yes, the shows are a great place to shop, however I have found they are mostly new units and I am thinking more of a used unit. I have three or four dealers around here and will check then out firs.

Please fill me in on some of these terms..gtg, and a few others you gals are using.

Take care, travel safe. Rita

GTG = Get Together - any time 2 or more women meet up and share a meal and/or a visit.

Doofus = VickieP

Meanie = VickieP

Wonderful and Sweet = Mitch

Those are all that come to mind right now...
