New fulltime Rver

Hi everyone, I have just begun my full time RV journey with my DH of 31 years and our dog Buddy. I'm 52 years young, am a Mother (30 yo daughter & 21 yo son ), Grandmother (twin boys 3 1/2 yrs. old) Nurse, Midwife, and now Happy Hobo. We have a 1998 32 ft class A gas engine Gulfstream...not new, but has everything we need and it's paid for. Our toad is a Honda Accord. Hubby was in the automotive service business for 30 years (retired now) so both our vehicles are always in tip top running shape, you gotta' love it ;) We both had very stressful jobs and had always planned on traveling the US. Started to think we would be too burned out if we waited much longer so here we go!!! I'm a native to So Cal, lived my teen years in Huntington Beach, and lived for ten years in Palm Springs. Right now I am in Benson, AZ and had planned on heading to Louisiana taking the 10 down through the Gulf, but decided this early in the game it would be nice to find the warmest sunniest place to kickback, catch my breath, and embrace my new life journey. I will most likely need to earn some extra income down the road, but if I follow my/our budget I will have about 9-12 mos. before I need to think about it. I might take a couple of travel nursing jobs per year or work per diem for 6 mos then take 6 mos. off. Hard to say at this point...maybe we will find camp host positions or ????? :?: Looking forward to learning and sharing with all of you here and hopefully crossing paths too...Happy Trails

Hi and Welcome, Cheryl,

So glad to have you with us. Jump right in and make yourself at home. There are a couple traveling nurses on the forum, so if you are interested in that, I'm sure you could pick their brains. And many of us do workamping to live this lifestyle, so you can pick brains there, also.

I'm a warm weather fan, also. Some members of the forum are in Quartzsite right now - might want to see about meeting up with them. Others are in areas not far from you - Phoenix area especially. You might meet people sooner than you expected. :) If you want to, of course.

Hope to see you post often, and to meet you on the road or at a gtg in the future.

Greetings from Azusa, Cheryl! I'm so glad that you've been able to realize your dream before you felt too old to go for it. It'll be fun to hear how you and your hubby are enjoying being footloose and fancy-free. :) And I bet he could pick up more work than he'd like helping folks on the road with their various rigs.

Glad to have you aboard!

Welcome Cheryl! Congrats on realizing that waiting to live the dream is silly if you can afford the alternative! Looking forward to hearing about your new adventure. I have some roots in SoCal as well having spent 7 years in Torrance and Signal Hill. Now I'm in Central VA freezing my derriere off. I, too, will head to the warm climes when i'm able. Again, welcome to the group...it's a great place to visit often!!!

Welcome to the group. Sounds like you have most of your ducks in a row :D I'll be flying into Tuscon on Tuesday and being picked up by my sister and BIL to spend 2 weeks with them in Benson. They winter there in an Escapee (an RV group) park. Maybe we can talk or gtg while I'm there. Feel free to pm me if you're interested. Looking forward to posts and pics. carold

Let me add my welcome to the others. Glad you decided to "go for it" now rather than later. I'm in Kerrville Tx right off I-10 so if you decide to head to Florida, plan on stopping by. Sharon (Sprinter) right next door to me here is a traveling nurse who works 6 mos and travels 6 mos. Now you need to figure out the picture thing so we can all get to know you, your hubby, your rig and Buddy better. (The Bigger dog is my Buddy)

Hi Cheryl

I am one of the Traveling Nurses on here. I live in Southern Oregon but am working in Northern CA right now, have been here for quite a while as the money is good and the staff is great. I have worked all over the USA. Sometimes (like when I go on the East coast) I take the apartment and others, (like now) I live in my Motorhome. I travel in a 35ft Class A and tow a 4WD SUV. Traveling is the BEST. No staff meetings and no one telling me I cant have 4 weeks off LOL

Sounds like you are off to a good start...enjoy. I took 6 months off a few years ago and had a ball. Got to meet lots of other RVers and the people in campgrounds are soooooo friendly. I dont have a significant other but travel with my Dog and my checkbook LOL so it all works out.

Hope to get to meet along the way
Karen
