Hello Ladies,

I am Katheryn Mcrae, I am 51, and I am getting ready to take a journey of a life time. My husband and I are planning on spending the next two years living in a 5th wheel and traveling the US. So we are becoming gypsies. We plan to try and get jobs at various RV camps, or little side jobs in places we end up visiting. Our main goal is to be able to spend more then a couple of days in one place.........we are taking our Harley so we can also ride the countryside. My husband nor I haven't lived or traveled this way before. Hoping for all types of advice!!!!

Thank You
Katheryn McRae

Hi and Welcome, Katheryn! Glad to have you with us. And I hope the two of you love this lifestyle as much as I do. I took off for a year, and am going on 5 1/2 years now! I just traveled the first year, now I workamp part of most years to help pay my expenses. Read and join in where ever you'd like.

Welcome Katheryn. You've come to the right place for "all types of advice!" Some of it is actually good too! Jump right in the conversations anywhere with comments or questions...or start your own thread. I don't full-time yet, but I'm leaning heavily that way.

Welcome aboard. Have fun with the preparations. They are as much of the adventure as the traveling. It is all an exploration of new and exciting possibilities.....

Welcome Katheryn,

I had been lurking on this forum for awhile before I determined that these are a great group of women with lots of helpful advice (some not so much though, just funny  ). No question is stupid except maybe the ones between Vicki and Mitch, but I digress....

My husband and I are also just starting out our RV adventures this spring and I for one cannot wait. It can't come too soon for me. My husband needs to work for a few mores years to be able to retire with a minimal pension, so in the meantime, we are part-timers. Our dream is to become full timers for a while at least, so I will be looking forward to hearing of your adventures.

I love pictures too, so click away and post, post, post, and I will try to do the same!

Ladies, what a warm welcome!!! :D

Sorry it's taken a while to respond, the resurant where I cook, has been in the process of closing it's door for good. Like many businesses the ecomony at this time makes it hard for a fine dinning place to stay open. Especially in a little town in southern Mississippi. I am also in the start up phase of my own cottage business, something I can do while we are on the road.

Lately the big talk in the house is which type of 5th wheeler to buy. My husband and I both have spent major amout of years in the constrution business, and I would like to buy a used one that we can gut and redesign, husband isn't so sure. What ever we buy we will have to recut the main door and make it large enough for our harley to go in. I am not to trilled, about hanging a 25,000. bike on a trailor behind the 5th wheel. I want to figure out a way of keeping the bike on the inside while we travel.

I hope yall are having a great weekend.

Hey Katheryn!

I don't know what you've explored, but have you seen the incredible fifth wheel toyhaulers? Might not have to reinvent the wheel with one of those ...

Just a thought. :)
