new gal on the road...almost

Hi All,

I went to the rally in Louisville last summer with my sister & bro-in-law Roadtrek owners and got hooked! I'm now searching for a used RT 170 and anxious to start exploring the USA highways & byways. At that rally, I picked up tons of publications that I've about worn the ink off of by now. So, this old Kentucky gal is gearing up. I'm really enjoying reading everyone's posts and learning a lot of great information about RVing.

Looking forward to joining the ranks of road warriors!

Saretta

Welcome, I love all this learning and sharing stuff too, I have a fifth wheel but when I
retire I'm going to get a class c and for now I just spend my time doing the internet
research. I don't dare go to an rv show cause then I'd drool all over myself and that
wouldn't look pretty, people would think it was appropriate for me to be in the "short"
bus. oh wait, thats probably more than you wanted to hear, or read, I actually
just wanted to say WELCOME

Wow...thanks for the great welcomes! I can relate to the comment about drooling at the rally rigs...lots of shiny stuff everywhere you turn :D.
Is there anyone who'd care to offer comments about finding used Roadtreks? I've scoured internet sources, but unfortunately they're all quite a distance away from my locale. I'm willing to drive to a seller/dealer if I think I've found a real possibility, but not sure how that works. At any rate, all suggestions are appreciated and I'll definitely check in from time to time. I'm looking at all the different topic boards and getting all sorts of good ideas.

later!
Saretta

Saretta, welcome to the forum. Couple of ladies have gotten Roadtreks in the last year and they will chime in and tell you about their search. However, I remember them both saying, Roadtrek's are hard to find used. Liz, driving her 'new to her Roadtrek' drove from Florida to Texas to get the one she wanted. Lucky for her she traded her RV in on the Roadtrek so she was able to camp over make the switch and camp back. Now you might have to fly to pick it up or get someone to drive with you. Another thing you can do, is ask if there is someone on the forum who could give a look and see if it might be worth you pursuing it. Depends on how much you trust us to do something like that. Anyway, Welcome and let's get your travel map started.

welcome Saretta. Liz just bought a used Roadtrek here in Kerrville Texas at Kerrville RV. She called me cause I live here, to go look at it for her and the dealer had emailed lots of pictures to her. She got her financing on line and made her deal with the dealer over the phone. I don't think there is anyone on the forum who doesn't LOVE to look at RVs. Ask anything - we don't consider any question too dumb.

Welcome Saretta, future fellow Roadtrek owner! My first Roadtrek was a 1999 170. I loved it! It was perfect for just me, but sometimes I take my SIL or a friend with me on longer trips & to share expenses. I got tired of having to make the passenger seats into a bed every night and wanted an enclosed bathroom for a planned trip to AK in 2009. I couldn't find a used RT in time so bought a 2002 Pleasureway with twin beds and enclosed bathroom. Had a lot of issues ($$$$) with it on the trip to AK and after, so started looking (internet search) for a used RT 210 with the twin beds & enclosed bath. The ones that popped up in FL where I live all had the sofa in the back, which is not what I wanted. Found the one for me in Kerrville,TX & Karen & Birdie told you the rest of the story. I'm loving my "new" 2006 RT 210....just spent 5 days in it at a NF cg....everything worked great! You've already figured out what you want, so just keep searching and be patient. You may have to travel to get it, but it'll be worth it. There's another RT owner on here (legallady) that flew from Boston to CA, I think to get her RT.

In my RT 170, I removed the L-shaped dinette cushions in the back and put in a twin-sized mattress, leaving it made up as a bed all the time. It created more space, and I used the swing out table and revolving front seats for my dinette area.

When you search for your RT, don't just use "Roadtrek".....sometimes you can find them under Class B, or Dodge/Chevy conversions. I think I found mine under Dodge campervan, or something similar. (It had a Dodge engine)

Again, welcome, and I look forward to reading about your search & RT adventures.

And here's one in Gainesville, FL, 30 miles north of me.
