Hi Women,

We're noobs, here and in the RV world. My wife, Annie, and I got our 1997 Fleetwood Bounder last spring, and we've been living in it since the summer to get a feel for the systems.

We hope to start full-timing soon, although we're still pre-retirement age. I got laid off recently, and Annie will be getting laid off late winter. We want to sell our house and head west (from NYS).

Neither of us thought of ourselves as the wandering type, but the notion has crept up on us during the last two years. There are lots of reasons not to do it now, but there are bigger reasons not to wait. We're not all promised retirement, a pension, or old-age. We've got now, and that's about it.

We joined the big RV forum (RVnet), which is a great resource, but we know the importance of a women-only space.

I look forward to reading more.

Hi Roxanne and Annie,

Nice to meet both of you. Glad to have you with us and hope that you join in often and become a member of our family. As to the reasons to do or not do this - I quit a good job over 5 years ago to spend a year on the road - and haven't stopped. Yep, some say I'm crazy (maybe they're right) but I've never been happier. So, follow those dreams!

A big West Coast welcome to the both of you! :)

You've found a bunch of great women here who will be honest, supportive, encouraging, and also challenging (when needed).

It sounds like you're doing your homework about learning your rig before hitting the road. Don't hesitate to ask questions -- between the many, many years of experience on this forum there's bound to be an answer. There certainly will be lots of opinions! ;)

Roxanne and Annie, a big Texas welcome. Bet you are excited about getting started with the rest of your life. You are right, you never know when you won't have the time to live those dreams. Can't wait to see you share your travel experiences and get a hoot out some of ours. Looking forward to getting to know you two better and hope to see ya down the road.

Another big Texas welcome to both of you. Have you looked into workamping to earn your way on the road? Feel free to ask anything here - no question is too dumb. We did four pages once on dumping your black tank.

Welcome Roxanne and Annie. I tell everyone who asks, don't wait until you're too old or too sick to start living your dreams. I retired after a bout with cancer, and haven't looked back. I call myself a "most-of-the-timer" as I still have a stick house in FL where I spend most of the winter months, then get out of the heat & humidity for the summer. Looking forward to reading about your rv adventures.

Welcome aboard. For now I am a traveler that comes back to the stick house to work seasonal jobs and earn more gas/camping money....well and support the elderly step mother in assisted living arrangement. Will need to go back and check out your blog. Sounds as if you two have done your homework and are interested in learning from others mishaps and limiting your own. There will always be enough of both to go around and share at campfires.... :)
