Hi My name is Cheryl and very interested in the rv lifestyle. I sold my 13 ft. Trillium Outback, and now looking at a vw Rialta. i would like to take a year to explore the beaches, and just relax and have fun. I will be enjoying the company of my German Shepherd Dakota along the way. Looking forward to meeting and hearing from others that have already done this.

Welcome to the forum, Cheryl. I take it Ontario is the one in Canada not one of the others. You will gets lots of information for any number of us on here. The beaches are always great to be on and look at. Here is hoping that you find the outfit that will fit what you want to do.

Welcome to the forum. Which Ontario are you in? I think California not Canada when someone says Ontario. I looked at VW Rialtas but was concerned about the lack of power if I did any mountain driving and finding a VW mechanic somewhere in the boonies. Come join us at the campfire anytime.

Hi Cheryl! Thanks for your patience in becoming a member. I was very remiss in getting through the spammers to the real members the last couple weeks - and I'm so glad to see you posting!

I have a friend with a Rialta who loves it. In and out of the mountains. I looked at them, but needed something bigger than the B's for myself and full-timing - although I'm not very much bigger.

Please, jump in here where ever, whenever - and I hope to meet you down the road.

Thank you for the awesome response. I am from Ontario Canada. I have been divorced 17 years, raised the kids, and looking at selling the house and doing something really different. I am a health care worker, and may look at jobs on the road. Sounds like you guys have fun and enjoy what you are doing. I'm in for that! thanks again

Cheryl, we have 2 nurses who travel and work. Hopefully they'll see your post. Do you need to stay in Canada to work, or can you work in the US, also? I know you have different requirements with your health care, etc up there. Think you can only be gone 6 months? But don't see that as a problem. You'd just have to pick which months. And there is lots to see up there also - I need to spend lots more time in Canada - but there are only a few months I want to do it :)

You are right about health care. Much different system. As far as I know it is 6 months, before returning to Canada for health benefits. I would also require a supplement to our benefits while in the U.S. As far as working goes, I would be happy to do any kind of work for camp site rent if that is possible. I love the U.S. and have been to Florida many times. I am in the planning stages, and need to get the info I need to make a well planned get-away. lol I have friends that think I'm nuts, but we do only have one life to live. I have a Ranger 4x4 pick-up and tried pulling the trailer. Just a little too inconvenient for me. I'm thinking the Rialta might do the job. The 2003 model has more hp than earlier years. What scares me is the price of transmission repair. Any ideas for a new toy are welcome, since I'm not an expert on motorhomes. Anyone that owns a Rialta might have some great feedback on economy and repair convenience.

Welcome to the forum. I have a brother that lives in Thunder Bay. I have only been up there once and it was beautiful. But I don't do snow if I can help it. I told him he needs to be a snowbird but he still has to work a few more years.

I bet there are forums for Rialta owners. You might try looking in the Yahoo groups. I started out with a Le Sharo which was the for runner of the Rialta but with a different engine. I liked the floor plan but not the tanks and bathroom.
