Hello everyone - my name is Kellie and I currently live in NW Ohio and work for the state. I will be retiring in just 4 more months and plan to travel around the US in my rig for extended periods of time. I have never RV'd before but always had the dream. When I was married I often wondered how that would work out as the ex had NO interest in that at all. Hmmm. wonder if that was a sign? Anyway, my baby (age 19) leaves for college tomorrow and then it's just me and my dog Eddie.
Eddie
My son
Eddie
I bought a Class c 2000 Four Winds which is 29' and so far have only taken her for a few trips around OH. In September I plan to take a wekkend trip to Bay City MI and possibly another one to SW Ohio to join a LOWs outing there.
Here's my rig:
I am currently planning a week long trip in October , probably to Shenandoah National Park in VA with at least ine night in WV also. My ultimate goal is to spend ast least one night in each of the lower 48 states in her. I have been tentatively calling her Francesca, but that is subject to change as we get to know each other better. In January, after my son heads back to school, I plan to head for South Texas and spend the winter there. I'm interested in the Corpus Christi area, Port Aransas, San Antonio, Victoria and maybe Guadalupe River area. Then, I plan to head a little further west to Big Bend National Park to explore that beautiful area. Then I will head homeward thru New Mexico and some other states, as yet undecided. Anyone with opinions or knowledge of places to see, and things to do in those areas, please feel free to chime in. I love the women's forums and get lots of good advice from my RV sisters and feel that I have come to know many of you. I look forward to actually meeting some of you in the future.

Oh boy! Hi ya Kelpie! LOL You will fit right in.
If ya look things over you will see the heading for Get Togethers! Or GTG's. They are planning one in TX but I forget exactly when. There are a couple of the sisters down there now work camping. Bethers is in the Corpus area and Karen is in the Kerrville area. I think there's gonna be more than a few doing the Tx GTG so check it out.
Glad ya came on over.

Hi Kellie,
It sounds that you won't be in TX in time for the scheduled gtg - but if you get here in Jan - those of us here would love to get together with you. I'm in Port A until April. And Lori and her hubby will be in Corpus until, I think, the first of March.
Like you, I never had an rv or traveled this way until I "just did it" and it's now over 3 years and I'm still loving it - in fact, loving it more and more.
If you head west in April - some of us are also heading that way and planning to attend The Rally which will be in Albuquerque.
Thanks for the great info and pictures! Hope to see you on the road soon.

Hi Kelpie and welcome. We're a fun, kinda crazy bunch. We're having a GTG in Kerrville Texas 11/3 thru 11/7 at Schreiner Park. Come on down. We're going to see the Alamo, take a riverboat cruise thru the Riverwalk area in San Antonio and whatever else strikes our fancy. If you do decide to come, just call Schreiner Park and tell them you're with the Women's Forum group. Check it out on the GTG section.
I've done a lot of traveling in New Mexico - my favorite area. Bethers and I are talking about caravaning from Kerrville to the Albaquerque NM Good Sam rally in April - Join us?
Love the pictures you posted. Your rig is great and your dog is darling. Come join the campfire, too. Again, welcome.

Hey, Kellie, welcome to the forum. Your guy Eddie's a real doll. My late husband also had no interest in RVing ... and after he passed I got a Class C like yours (29') and loved it. They are so nice and if you don't want to sleep in the cab-over it's a great place to store all your junk. LOL! I, too only want to go our for extended trips. I still have my stick house.
I just started RVing single a few years ago, and liked it so much I moved up to a 35-foot Class A and tow a Honda CRV. You'll figure out over time how you want to do this deal. I'm just coming home from a four-month summer gig in the Northwest -- back to 90-100 degree temps in Utah. I've spent six of the last eight months in my rig ... and it's been a lot of fun. But right now I'm ready to live in a room more than 12 feet wide (with the slide out!).
