Hi everyone!
I'm going through a midlife crisis. Am I buying a new car? Sporting mini-skirts and halter-tops to feel young again? Heading out to the clubs to take in the night life?
NOPE! I'm going full-time RVing...and I'm taking my husband and hairy son Bosco with me (he's a 7 year old Yorkie).
If you'd like to follow my blog about getting ready to go full-timing, I'd love for you to stop by!! It would be fun to get the female perspective on the things I write about.
Please feel free to post to your heart's content....and become a "follower" of the blog! http://midlifecruiser.blogspot.com/Looking forward to hanging out on this forum and getting to know you gals better!
Nellie

Welcome. We need to know more - age, where do you live (for now), what kind of rig do you have, have you ever rv'd before, what does your husband think of all this, etc. You see, we're a nosy bunch. How about pictures of your rig, your furkid, you, etc. Again, welcome to the forum.

Wow! Thanks so much for the warm welcome!
Huh, so you're a nosy bunch?? Well, looks like I'll fit right in
Let's see, I'm 37 years old. I was a school teacher for 10 years. We got hooked on RVing when we'd go out for 2 weeks every summer. We stared out in a pop up, moved on to a 25 foot fifth wheel, and then finally, we got a 34 foot Jayco Eagle fifth wheel with 2 slide outs.
I was born in Crowley, Louisiana, and still have family there and also in New Iberia. When I was growing up, my parents would send us to spend the entire summer in Louisiana with my grandparents.
Does anyone want to know my blood-type? hehe! Just kidding!
I'm so excited that I found this forum!! It's great having women to "talk to" especially when we get on the road in 21 days!
Any suggestions for what I really need in the kitchen? At this point, I want to bring EVERYTHING!!!
Thanks!
Nellie

Welcome to the forum. Love your blog, lots of fun energy! But don't be rushing the 'middle aged' label, you've got plenty of time for that!
Re: the kitchen....from me (in my 'B')....keep it simple!

I agree about keeping it simple in the kitchen. I finally broke down last spring and bought a new set of pots/pans that I love. They are stackable with flat metal and plastic lids, can also be used in the oven for baking and have removable handles. Just love them. Kept 2 other pans - one bigger one and one baby one I had from an old set that I use a lot for boiling one cup water, etc. I have a small blender (very small) and a very small chopper, cuz I do use it and the smallest George Foreman, cuz I use it a lot, also. Since I have a microwave/convection now, I got rid of my smaller toaster oven - otherwise it was a must for me. I have very basic utensils and knives. Discovered I needed one whisk tho- hadn't brought one. Oh, I also added a small crockpot after being out a short time, also. But some of these will depend on the type of cooking you do. I brought 4 sets of silverware and plates. Actually, if I'm cooking for more than me I use paper. Just easier while traveling, but I like using a real plate. And people in rvs are used to bringing their own plates and silverware if invited over. Very common.
Same with clothes and everything else - keep it as simply as you can - and COMFORTABLE when it comes to clothes.
Thanks for sharing more. We've had a gtg in TX last couple springs, probably will become annual - and there are others all the time all over the country - so keep an eye out - and join in on one or more of them when you can.

Nellie, husbands are allowed at the GTG's as long as they can cook for the women!
Beth, where did you get those pots and pans? Sounds like something I would like to have!

Gee, I didn't consider myself middle-aged until last year when I turned 48!

Welcome Nellie, I loved your Blog. I agree with Barbie, you aren't at midlife yet, so you have plenty of time to see this country and you will need it, as there is so much to see.
Where do you plan to start ? It will be exciting to keep up with you on your Blog. We are so glad you found us too. Really nice bunch of ladies on here. If you look in the GTG thread, you might see one that you could attend and meet some of these ladies. Some have husbands, so yours will always be welcome and if he is lucky there will be another husband there for him to visit, so he doesn't feel so overwhelmed with so many women
None of us bite and the men have usually enjoyed themselves around our campfire too.
Hope to meet you in the future somewhere, in the meantime, have a great time.
Safe and Happy Travels,
CArol
