Hello,
My name is Sylvia, and I have a brand new Itasca Cambria motorhome. It was the last thing my husband did before he died, buying this motorhome for me.
He made me promise that I would continue RVing without him.
This last week end, I did go to Breckenridge CO. Let me tell you, pulling into that campground alone and knowing that it was all up to me now was the loneliness moment of my life.
Hoping that this group might be the suppport I need to continue traveling in my motorhome with my two dogs.
I live in Arvada CO, am 62 years old and have been retired for a little over a year. I spent most of my life as a purchasing agent for medical device manufacturing companies. I have two grown children and one granddaughter, none of whom have the time to travel at this time.
My husband and I have owned several 5th wheels, but when he got sick, we knew that those rigs would be too hard for him and for me, thus the motorhome, which I love. It really is very easy to hook up and get settled in and I would like to continue traveling.
Let me know if there are any others in my area that I might hook up with.
thanks and am looking forward to hearing from you all.
Sylvia

Welcome Sylvia, you've found the right place! There are women here in every stage of their life, including similar to you. I'm sorry for the loss of your husband, I can't know how it feels, but I know you've gotten through it and it seems your husband loved you and wanted you to continue the life you enjoyed. You survived your first camping experience alone, didn't you, or you wouldn't be here today, so I say hurray to you, you did it! We share our experiences here and ask lots of questions, opinions and anything else we want to know !
And as everyone will tell you, we love pics, so post what you can and if you need any help you can look look under Maint/Tech Issues or ask us and we will help you. I didn't know how to do anything like that when I started. So, Sylvia, I'm glad you joined us, welcome.

Welcome Sylvia!
I'm so glad you joined and have posted your introduction,... you are now in this circle of friendship. Many of the women here are solo. I know that you will find new friends and traveling/camping companions.
We usually use Photobucket to post pics to this site. Upload to PB, then as you run your cursor over the pic in PB text will appear below it,... simply copy the IMG code into your message here and there you have it.... when you submit your message (or preview it) your pic is there.
I have a life long friend who lived in Arvada and was an art teacher in local school there. If you ever get east get in touch and we'll get together!
Welcome aboard!

A BIG, OL' WomenRV Welcome, Sylvia!
I'm sorry about the loss of your husband. That has to have been one of the hardest things you've ever had to live through. Pretty cool and loving, though, that he helped you prepare for the next stage in life - RVing solo.
And now you've stumbled upon us! You won't find another group that is as helpful, funny, smart, and supportive as this group. So, jump right in with whatever you feel like talking about. Join Barbzee in her morning coffee klatch, or sit around the evening fire and drink (or not...)! There's always a bottle of wine hidden around there somewhere...
Looking forward to learning more about you!
Mitch

Welcome Sylvia. You will find many supportive women on this forum. I'm currently workamping in Silver City New Mexico at the KOA. You're not too far from me. Think about coming for a visit for a few days. You can get your official Flamingo wineglass from me. I understand about the kids and grandkids not having time to visit. When I first retired I had the same complaint and it took me a while to remember they have such busy lives these days and that's when I decided to start RVing and meet new people and see new places.

I am so pleased that I have had such wonderful responses. There are a thousand questions I have for all of you!
to: Retired and Happy, do you workkamper alone or are you a couple. I was wondering if they took single workkampers and that is something I would love to do.
Silver City is one of my favorite places, we used to stay at Rose's. There are two wonderful quilt and bead shops there and I do both. I was particularly impressed with the toilet flower pots on the way out of town. When does your work contract end, I would really like to go back there and meet you.
to: SW Louisiana, I will be traveling to Mississippi this fall. I need to take my husband's ashes back to his hometown of Greenwood, MS. My family was from SE Louisiana and I plan to be there and hopefully go to the Nachitoches (sp?) festival of lights around Dec 1st. I would be happy to meet someone if possible.
Thank you all for such a warm welcome.

Welcome, welcome....... Prayers to keep you at peace and strong as you begin these new journeys.... As others have said, sounds as if your husband loved you very much and knew you well..... wanting to help keep you moving forward with this journey that is life...... I love hearing your plans and knowing that the road can take all of us in any direction! I am only a "short tripper" (no there is no S in that!) but hope to be a "Part-timer" in the future. I travel by myself with co-pilots that have fur. The husband had never shown all that much interest in traveling and I got tired of waiting.... so he stays home and enjoys his retirement hobby of Pottery and now "Pottery Shows"! In my case the MH was my gift to myself and my own dreams.... after raising family and working hard....I finally realized that I was allowed to do something for myself! I will admit, it took me years to be able to get to this point without guilt!
Come on aboard, check in often and don't worry about leaving crumbs on the kitchen table..... on one actually sees them!

Sylvia, I workamp alone, just me and my two Labs. This year I'm doing housekeeping (clean the cabins, bathrooms and laundry). Before I worked in the office. Got my jobs by posting a resume on the KOA website. Costs $35 a year which includes the $24 yearly membership. Also subscribe to Workamper News. You can workamp for as little as two months at state parks or up to six months like I'm doing this year. Since I fulltime I save the amount I usually pay for a site when I'm at home in Kerrville, Texas. I'll be in Silver City until Oct 3rd so come on down if you can. Would love to meet you. BTW my real life name is Karen.
Another thought, you said you're going to Lousiana in the "Fall". Come by Silver city and caravan with me to Texas (Kerrville, near San Antonio) stay a few days in Kerrville and then go on to LA ---- OR ---- come thru kerrville on your way to LA later in the Fall.

Welcome Sylvia, I am another member from South Louisiana. My husband doesn't want to travel or camp so I usually go by myself or with my sister. I went to college in Natchitoches but have only been back to the Festival once. I just about froze but you know Louisiana weather, we could be in shorts for Christmas.
I joined the Texas chapter of RVing Women so make a few camping trips to Texas. The national convention will be in San Antonio in October and there will be a lot of women rvers there then. Hope to meet you sometime.
Martha

Welcome to the Forum. Can't think of anything to add. That's what happens when you don't respond quickly
I fulltime with my DH and winter in FL. We are in Montrose at the moment and heading toward Colorado Springs. Have to look at a map to see where you are. Take up Karen on her invitation. We've visited with her twice and I got my flamingo wineglass last time. She's a lot of fun and full of info and is looking for a playmate to go to the Maritimes next year. (pay me later, Karen
). Sorry to hear about your husband and glad to see you taking up on his advice to go RVing. It's very doable, especially with the size you have. Nowhere you can't go. Looking forward to posts and pics. carold
